How is your walk with the Lord? satan is always out to destroy your relationship with God and one of his target zones is your prayer life.
God desires a relationship with you. In fact, the bible says to pray at all times, without ceasing. There are times when we find quiet hidden time to spend time with Him, yet other times we are wrapped up in busyness. I love the short prayers of Nehemiah, even though he was busy at work for the king or at work with the people, he constantly spoke to the Lord, lifting up His requests throughout the moments of his day.
When we pray, we are before God’s throne – seated in heavenly places. You see, because of what Jesus did for us, we have this great gift. Don’t cast it aside or consider nothing, because it is a great gift. Because of Jesus and by the power of the Holy Spirit – we are before the Lord, making our requests known to God, lifting up our praises and offering thanksgiving.
You don’t have to copy the way others pray or repeat the same prayer over and over – God knows you, He created you, He made your heart and understands you. Just go to Him, the bible says even when we don’t know what to say, the Holy Spirit intercedes for you on your behalf. How amazing is that!
Jesus said : “DO NOT worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food to eat or enough clothes to wear. For life is more than food, and your body more than clothing. Look at the ravens. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for God feeds them. And you are far more valuable to him than any birds! Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? And if worry can’t accomplish a little thing like that, what’s the use of worrying over bigger things?
“LOOK at the lilies and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. And if God cares so wonderfully for flowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith? “And don’t be concerned about what to eat and what to drink. Don’t worry about such things. 30 These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers all over the world, but your Father already knows your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and he will give you everything you need. “So don’t be afraid, little flock. For it gives your Father great happiness to give you the Kingdom”
We are commanded not to worry and that starts with disciplining yourself and not allowing your mind to wander off into fears and worry. If all your steps are ordered by the Lord and since He loves you dearly, you know that you trust in Him. Lift your head up, your help comes from the Lord.
God did not fill you with a spirit of fear, weakness, or of unsound mind. If you are a follower of Christ, you have been given a spirit of power, love and a sound mind.
Proverbs 31: definition of a Virtuous Woman : SHE LAUGHS WITHOUT FEAR OF THE FUTURE, She is clothed with strength and dignity
ALWAYS PRAY AND NEVER GIVE UP. (LUKE 18:1), another verse tells us to ask and keep on asking, knock and KEEP ON. Be persistent in your prayers. I like the parable from Luke 18 of the annoying woman and the wicked king :
One day Jesus told his disciples a story to show that they should always pray and never give up. “There was a judge in a certain city,” he said, “who neither feared God nor cared about people. A widow of that city came to him repeatedly, saying, ‘Give me justice in this dispute with my enemy.’ The judge ignored her for a while, but finally he said to himself, ‘I don’t fear God or care about people, but this woman is driving me crazy. I’m going to see that she gets justice, because she is wearing me out with her constant requests!’”
Then the Lord said, “Learn a lesson from this unjust judge. Even he rendered a just decision in the end. So don’t you think God will surely give justice to his chosen people who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will grant justice to them quickly! But when the Son of Man returns, how many will he find on the earth who have faith?”
The bible tells us to fix our thoughts and this is key to three things:
- knowing God’s will for your life
- being transformed into a new creation and
- having God’s peace guard you heart and mind.
My thought test: (according to Phil 4:8)
- is it true?
- Is it praiseworthy?
- is it righteous?
- is it honorable?
- is it pure?
- is it just?
- is it lovely?
- is it of good report?
- is it virtuous?
- “Listen to me, you who know right from wrong, you who cherish my law in your hearts. Do not be afraid of people’s scorn, nor fear their insults. Isaiah 51:7
- Say to those with fearful hearts, “Be strong, and do not fear, for your God is coming to destroy your enemies. He is coming to save you.” Isaiah 35:4
- Good comes to those who lend money generously and conduct their business fairly. Such people will not be overcome by evil. Those who are righteous will be long remembered. They do not fear bad news; they confidently trust the Lord to care for them. Ps 112:5-7
- Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous.Be strong. And do everything with love. 1 Cor 16:13-14
