The Shabbat dinner – JUST TRY IT!!! Honor the Sabbath – a blessing for Christians too

Just try it!    All you need is dinner and a candle to start. All the blessings are listed below  for you. I think you will be surprised at how wonderful this really is.

I wanted to share the secrets of the Sabbath with you. Honoring the Sabbath is actually a blessing given to you from the Lord. You can take it or leave it. However, before you knock it down, I suggest you try it. I spent all my life believing church arguments and people’s arguments against Sabbath- until the Lord spoke clearly into my heart. Five instructions, He gave me that day. The fourth was “Honor my Sabbath”. I was shocked and argued back, but decided to search it out and find it. It was much more than I had previously thought. It has become a special time, a time my children love and time my husband and I look forward to. Being totally honest, I don’t always honor it as I should. I often go back to my own ways with busyness, but once again I hear the Lord knocking on my heart. I haven’t been honoring as I should and He has not only led me to Sabbath scriptures every day this week, but three people mentioned the subject to me in the last few days.
It’s a time to shut off all the noise, worries and cares of the world and spend time together as we Honor the Lord. It’s a 25 hour period that lasts from Friday at sunset to Saturday at nightfall. Enjoy it! Do you know how much I love saying “sorry, I don’t clean on Sabbath” how can you say no to that? It’s enjoyable! It’s like a Christmas or Thanksgiving dinner every Friday night.
There is so much to share, discuss and verses to ponder. I thought, in order to inspire myself as well, I would introduce you to the Shabbat table – tonight. It the best time I’ve ever had with my family. My children would rather cancel parties and fun times with friends for this special meal- you see, that in itself is supernatural. I believe this is a secret key to the Lord’s blessings for us. It’s a night to Honor Him and speak His  Word and His Promises over our children, our marriage, our family, and our lives.

This is my version of Shabbat, taken from much study, books, and helpful answers from the owner of the Judaism store in my neighborhood. I know I have more to learn, but it’s a start – and I hope you try it 🙂 In the book, The Modern Mom’s Jewish Guide to Shabbat, she writes : “It’s about taking baby steps”- and this is true. To do everything at once to perfection is too much, so just try your best without feeling overwhelmed. Even if you follow along with only a few things, I know you will be blessed.

Wow, I just heard some of you say Sabbath is Sunday. Listen – does the day matter? Paul made that clear to us. I chose Friday to Saturday, and I’ll tell you why: every Sunday I attempted to make my Sabbath turned into a day of frustration and exhaustion for me. Getting everyone off to church, grocery shopping for week ahead, finishing homework, checking backpacks, making lunches, getting uniforms and clothes ready for Monday morning- it just never worked out for me. Besides, Sabbath is another post. Today, I want to share the joys of the Sabbath dinner -Shabbat -TRY IT!

Key #1 is preparation.

The table: Set a nice table. (Some families set the table with their finest dishes and  flowers.) We use a white table cloth and two center candles (we purchased ours from the Judaism store but I’m sure any would be fine) Also, on the table:  spice box, bowl to wash hands, challah board and cover, and a small bowl of olive oil mixed with salt and pepper to dip bread. (unless it’s the Jewish new year- add honey and apples)- if you think I have all the accessories, think again…I’m still taking baby steps.

Food : Challah bread- we buy this at our local bakery, it’s also called Egg bread, many cook it themselves – I read that it only takes 20 minutes to make the dough, but I’m still not inspired. Maybe one day Ill make a loaf of bread. I burnt up my bread machine….sooooo. I’ve read that two loaves is needed, but I only buy one. (any leftovers can be used for French toast the next morning) The bread is covered – you can use a paper towel. Okay, I’m going to be real. My husband tells me I should write a blog called “the lazy chef”. For my Shabbat meal, I go to Costco and buy the roasted Chicken, throw some monster potatoes in the oven, empty green frozen veggie in a pan, buy a pie and a loaf of egg bread, make a salad and I’m done. It all looks good on the table. You can search the internet for some great Shabbat Recipes, but this way I know my foods are edible.

What time do we eat? Sunset – right before the sun goes down, tonight it would be at 7:39. I don’t always hold true to this, but it is fun waiting for the sun to go down.  Sometimes we sit outside watching the sunset. The kids and I especially look forward to this and for some reason, it makes it more meaningful. I feel no guilt, however, if circumstances outside my control cause us to eat a bit later or a little earlier. Tonight, for instance, we may eat earlier so we can attend a service for Good Friday. For more info: do study in bible on the sun setting or twilight- it’s a special time.

Sharing scripture at the Shabbat : ( or after you eat) Each week there is a different scripture, and it seems, that every family reads the same scriptures. For instance, tonight would be: Exodus 33:12-34:26, Numbers 28:19-25, Ezekiel 37:1-4, 1 Corinthians 5:1-8. (Torah, Haftarah, Apostolic Scriptures)

Family Time after dinner: Take a walk, talk about your day, play board games, turn off the tv- unless you have to watch it– at least watch a family movie. It seems a family board game in my house, only lasts as long as the first argument and the board is tipped over. So don’t get discouraged if everything isn’t as picture perfect as you expected. Baby steps, baby steps.

Wine : Yes, important part of the meal. You need a cup of wine (or grape juice) for the Kiddush. I don’t drink – thanks to my mother’s persistant prayers for me, I am now allergic to all forms of alcohol. So I guess grape juice for me.

Blessings, prayers, and some traditions – we end everything “In Jesus Name”
and btw:  stand for the blessings

Blessing the Candles  : The evening begins as the wife lights the candles and whispers “Blessed are you, Lord our God, King of the Universe, who has sanctified us and commanded us to light the Shabbat candlesBarukh atah Adonai, Eloheinu, melekh ha’olam asher kidishanu b’mitz’votav v’tzivanu l’had’lik neir shel Shabbat. (Amein)

Blessing over Children  (put your hand on their head as you say this)
Daughters: May god make you like Ruth and Esther, Sarah, Rebecca, Rachael, Leah:Y’simcha elohim ksarah rivkah rahel v’lei’ah
Sons: May God make you like Efraim and Manassah :Y’simcha elohim k’efrayim v’chim’nasheh
May you be deserving of praise
strengthen them, O Lord
And keep them from stranger’s ways
May you be brave, righteous and strong
Courageous in your faith, may you be praised for your beauty. May God bless you and keep you, May Gods face shine upon you and may He be gracious unto you. May God lift up His face toward you and give you peace

Y’varech’cha adonai v’yishm’recha
Ya’eir adonai panav eilecha vihuneka
Yisa adonai panav eilecha v’yaseim l’cha shalom

(**after this is said, my husband and I go to each child and whisper in their ear “I am blessed I am your parent because…, I am so proud of you for…. This is their favorite part. I might say something like, I am proud that you did the right thing in a certain situation, or maybe I am proud of all the effort you have put into swim team. My husband will go to one and I to another, so each child hears something from me and another from my husband. You should see their faces light up with a smile after this. It’s a wonderful moment)

My Favorite!!! My husband reads Proverbs 31 to me:
A woman of valor who can find, She is more precious than rubies. The heart of her husband trusts in her. And he has no lack of gain. She does him good and not evil. All the days of her life, She extends her hands to the needy. She is robed in strength and dignity. She confidently faces the future.
She opens her mouth with wisdom, loving kindness is on her tongue. Her children rise up and call her blessed. Her husband sings her praises
“Many daughters have done worthily, but you excel them all” Charm is deceitful and beauty if vain, but a woman who reveres the Lord, she shall be praises. Give her the fruit of her hands, and let her works praise her in the gates.

Blessings to the husband:  I didn’t find this with most Shabbat sites, my husband said, “Hey! what about me!?” I found scripture that is used at Shabbat as a blessing for the husband. Psalm 1 or Psalm 112:

Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers,
but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night.
That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither— whatever they do prospers.
For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous,  but the way of the wicked leads to destruction.Ps 1

Praise the Lord. Blessed are those who fear the Lord,
who find great delight in his commands. Their children will be mighty in the land;
the generation of the upright will be blessed. Wealth and riches are in their houses, and their righteousness endures forever. Even in darkness light dawns for the upright, for those who are gracious and compassionate and righteous. Good will come to those who are generous and lend freely, who conduct their affairs with justice.
Surely the righteous will never be shaken; they will be remembered forever.
They will have no fear of bad news; their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the Lord.
Their hearts are secure, they will have no fear; in the end they will look in triumph on their foes. They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor, their righteousness endures forever; their horn will be lifted high in honor. Ps 112

Blessing the Wine (man) Blessed are You, Lord our God, King of the Universe, Who commanded us to drink the fruit of the vine.

Washing of hands: Blessed are You, Lord our God, King of the Universe, who has made us holy through the commandments and commanded us to wash our hands.

shhhhhhhhhhhhh Silence  There is no talking between the washing of hands and the blessing of the bread.

Bread (man lifts up bread) Blessed are you, Lord our God, King of the Universe, who brings forth bread from the earth.

Sit down and eat together. Be blessed!
Shalom! May the Lord God on High be with you!
Through the precious Name of our Savior Jesus Christ – Yashua Ha Mashiach

We usually add or  say our own heart felt prayer to the Lord. After you read the scripture for the night, ask questions, have the children engage in conversation and thoughts about the scripture read.

Torah readings at

fun stuff: any phone calls, answer :Good Shabbos!” — “Shabbat Shalom!”
I just read that some even pre tear their paper towels before Sabbath begins.
At the Passsover sedar, and empty place is left for Elijah.
I don’t think your supposed the blow the candle out, but let them go out on their own. The the last time we attempted this we almost burnt the house. So if you have a crazy dog and an overactive child, you might want to blow the candles out -that’s just my house.
learning or singing along to a Hebrew shabbot song of Praise is also a good memory 🙂

The Secret Place of the Most High : The Veil and the Holy of Holies (Holy Place) – Prayer

He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty Psalm 91:1

When you pray to God the Father in the name of Jesus, you enter into the Holy of Holies, the Secret Place of the Most High.  The Holy Place isn’t just an imaginary place you go to in your mind- it is actually a great throne room in a heavenly temple. I was amazed when the Lord showed me this. You are before a Holy God and the Lord sees you. The ONLY WAY we can enter this Holy Place is through the blood of Jesus. Sin cannot be within His presence- it runs from Him.

And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. Matthew 6:5-7

It is here, in quietness, in prayer that we are suddenly without even knowing-  in the Holy of Holies before the Great and Holy King. When I realized where I was, I wouldn’t dare say the prayers I usually say, but instead I bowed down in silence unable to speak in such an indescribable and Holy Presence. I realized how amazing this was; how much He loves us and how much He cares. It is a place where we can go for safety, a refuge in our storms, a place to obtain a mercy and the amazing gift of grace.

Hebrew 6:18-20: Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us.  This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary.  Jesus has already gone in there for us. He has become our eternal High Priest in the order of Melchizedek.

Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:14-16

At that time you won’t need to ask me for anything. I tell you the truth, you will ask the Father directly, and he will grant your request because you use my name.  You haven’t done this before. Ask, using my name, and you will receive, and you will have abundant joy. John 16:23

I was afraid when I realized where I was. I knew there was an indescribable amazing Holy presence before me. There was great power and although I didn’t look up, I sensed a great multitude of holiness before me. As I studied verses in the bible, I found this:

Who is in this Secret Place?

  1.       Jesus the Lord (at the right hand of the Father)
  2.       God the Father
  3.       those whose spirits are contrite and humble (Isaiah 57:15)
  4.       those whose hands and hearts are pure, who do not worship idols and never tell lies.(Isaiah 57:15)
  5.       20,000 chariots of God, even thousands of angels (Ps 68:17)
  6.     An Assembly of God’s firstborn, whose names are written in Heaven, the spirits of the righteous ones Hebrews 12: 22-24 “No, you have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to countless thousands of angels in a joyful gathering.  You have come to the assembly of God’s firstborn children, whose names are written in heaven. You have come to God himself, who is the judge over all things. You have come to the spirits of the righteous ones in heaven who have now been made perfect.  You have come to Jesus, the one who mediates the new covenant between God and people, and to the sprinkled blood, which speaks of forgiveness instead of crying out for vengeance like the blood of Abel.”

After I had walked through the temple and went past the double veil,  I was in the Holy Place. I knew without a doubt, I was above the skies and above the earth. There was a thick clear glass like flooring under my feet. I could see the color of the sky beneath me. I could also see that the Lord had prepared a place for every single person on earth in this Holy Place. I searched the scriptures and this is what I found:

Where is this secret place where the Lord dwells?

  1. in heaven
  2. above the earth where He can look down and see us.

Look down from heaven and see, from your lofty throne, holy and glorious. Where are your zeal and your might? Your tenderness and compassion are withheld from us Isaiah 63.15

I understood how safe I was here in the presence of my Creator. I understood the psalms of  David when he called this his place of safety, a hiding place, a place of deliverance, hidden from the plots of man.  You shall hide them in the secret place of Your presence from the plots of man; You shall keep them secretly in a pavilion From the strife of tongues You are my hiding place;  You shall preserve me from trouble; You shall surround me with songs of deliverance Ps 32:7.Psalm 31:20

Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.” Psalm 46:10

NO SIN can come before Him. I saw sin run from His presence. Jesus told us to ask for forgiveness and forgive others, it’s important to be ready and cleansed through repentance in Jesus name as you enter in the Holy Place- and it is good to enter His gates with joy and thanksgiving. “Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity” Hab 1:13

My Story

I was walking up to a great entrance way and I knew it was the East Gate.  Now the entrance way had no door but instead had great hanging cloth -like a thick curtain or rug hanging over the entrance way from top to bottom. It seemed 2-3 stories high. In order to get through, I had to pull this heavy cloth back and slip in on the side between the wall and the hanging cloth/veil. This curtain was thick- It was made like one of those Persian rugs with the designs on them- that is the closest thing I can think of to describe it – but it was thicker than anything I can describe- it seemed thicker than the grip of my hands. The entrance was very tall and I seemed the size of an ant compared to it.
After I went in the first entrance way, there were more large rooms or chambers I walked through. For some reason, I knew where I was going, as if I had been there many times. Each room or chamber I came to had the same thick veil covering over each entrance way – same size as main entrance way. I slipped through the side of each one lifting back the heavy veil and walking through until I finally arrived at the last one- There was a double veil here.

I pulled back the first veil and had to quickly pull back the second one to get through, and there I was…………

In a different place, I knew I was above the earth and sky, below me was like a clear glass that I could stand on, it was the color of the sky below. I fell to my knees and bowed my head down as I realized the Amazing Power and Indescribable Holiness that was before me. I was scared. I could see that sin ran/scattered from His presence – no sin could be in this place. I knew if I were to look up I would surely die. I knelt in silence, afraid and to mumble the prayers I usually say, but instead all I could do was be silent and offer praise. I quickly glanced behind me to look around. I could see a place laid out for each person in the world to come and be before the Lord.  They seemed like rounded space made out for each person – enough for everyone. It was very similar to the picture I posted above. I saw no end to the space. I looked and I saw one woman on her knees with her head down praying before the Lord, yet I was saddened at all the empty spaces. No one else was there. He waited, but no one came. He made a way, but did they consider it nothing?   I thought every Christian would be there… but they weren’t. (I can tell you this: there is a place for every living soul on earth to be there……but it’s close to empty. A sad, sad sight before the Lord.)

Jesus had made a way for us to be in this Holy Place. I understood the amazement of the torn veil- it would be impossible to tear – you would need an electric saw and sit there for days to tear it.  I understood the Holy of Holies, and I understood how I need to prepare myself for prayer.  We must go before Him with repentance, a humble heart,  and continually giving Honor to His Holy Name. I understood the privilege and gift it is to us, to be able to stand before the Lord. No one can stand before Him with sin- It is only through the blood Jesus shed that we now have a way to the Holy of Holies. I would not be there with out the Way Jesus made for me.

I’m reminded of the book of Nehemiah and the short prayers he prayed all the time- we should do this too, but we also need to find our quiet time alone with him.  Respect you prayer time with Him-stay alert- go somewhere quiet, and alone- because it is there in your quiet time as you call out to Him- you are in this Secret Place, in the High heavens before the Lord. Be Still

Has anyone been there?
Ezekiel described what he saw: ” I heard the noise of their wings, like the noise of many waters, like the voice of the Almighty, a tumult like the noise of an army; and when they stood still, they let down their wings. A voice came from above the firmament that was over their heads; whenever they stood, they let down their wings.  And above the firmament over their heads was the likeness of a throne, in appearance like a sapphire stone; on the likeness of the throne was a likeness with the appearance of a man high above it. Also from the appearance of His waist and upward I saw, as it were, the color of amber with the appearance of fire all around within it; and from the appearance of His waist and downward I saw, as it were, the appearance of fire with brightness all around.  Like the appearance of a rainbow in a cloud on a rainy day, so was the appearance of the brightness all around it. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD.

Hear the Word of the Lord:

We who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us.  This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary.  Jesus has already gone in there for us. He has become our eternal High Priest in the order of Melchizedek. For in the day of trouble He will conceal me in His tabernacle; in the secret place of His tent He will hide me; He will lift me up on a rock. Praise Him- Praise the Lord in his Sanctuary, Praise him in the highest heavens  Thou dost hide them in the secret place of Thy presence from the conspiracies keep them secretly in a shelter from the strife of tongues. Until I came into the sanctuary of God; Then I perceived their end. Thus I have beheld Thee in the sanctuary, To see Thy power and Thy glory. But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.  james 1:22-24Ps 27:5Ps 63:2 Ps 150:1Ps 73:17Ps 31:20, Hebrews 6:19-20
Search me O Lord and know my heart, show me any way that that is not acceptable to you.
Repent of your sins. Ask the Lord to search.your heart: ” Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up. James 4:7-10
Exodus 28:43 And they shall be upon Aaron, and upon his sons, when they come in unto the tabernacle of the congregation, or when they come near unto the altar to minister in the holy place; that they bear not iniquity, and die: it shall be a statute for ever unto him and his seed after him.
Psalm 24:3 Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? or who shall stand in his holy place?
Isaiah 57:15 For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones

Hebrews 9: And after the second veil, the tabernacle which is called the Holiest of all;…. But into the second went the high priest alone once every year, not without blood, which he offered for himself, and for the errors of the people: The Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standingWhich was a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience….. But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.13 For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh:14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?15 And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance… . It was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.24 For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:….. So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

The Holy place was an inner room of the tabernacle. Only the high priests entered once a year on the Day of Atonement.

“Where, O death, is your victory?
Where, O death, is your sting?”
The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.

Prayer- How it Works

Prayer- studies from

A call to Confession “My people don’t realize that I am watching them” Hosea 7

You don’t realize that I am watching you. I am watching all of you. Your sinful deeds are all around you, and I the Lord see them all. You entertain each other with wickedness and lies and many of you are aflame with lust. Yet, as I watch and listen, not one of you cries out to me. You continue to mingle with godless foreigners and you made yourself as worthless as a half baked cake. Are you for me or do you long for the things of this world? Have they filled your heart so much that you no longer desire me?  Haven’t you read the warnings? My people have become lukewarm.
Do you cowardly cringe when you say the name of my Son Jesus?  If you deny Him, He will surely deny you before ME. What sorrow awaits those who desert ME. For I sent My only Beloved Son FOR YOU, Yet you consider it as nothing. My fury is about to be poured out like boiling  water from an overturned pot. How much longer shall I call out to you?
My heart weeps for you. If you would only open your eyes and see how much I LOVE YOU. You seek me, but you don’t find me. You have looked everywhere but you your sins have weighed you down, you carry them around as ropes tied to you. When will you confess?- for I am an all forgiving God- and Savior. But you don’t admit your wrongs. Have you not heard that there is no sacrifice that will cover your deliberate continual sinning? You don’t cry out to me with sincere hearts.

Bring your confessions, and return to the LORD. Say to him, “Forgive all our sins and graciously receive us, so that we may offer you our praises. Hosea 14:2
Finally, I confessed all my sins to you and stopped trying to hide my guilt. I said to myself, “I will confess my rebellion to the LORD.” And you forgave me! All my guilt is gonePsalm 32:5
When I refused to confess my sin, my body wasted away, and I groaned all day long Psalm 32:3
If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth. But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.  If we claim we have not sinned, we are calling God a liar and showing that his word has no place in our hearts. 1 John 1:8-10

He loves you, You are His Child- and He is your Father
I saw the Lord reaching out to those burdened in sin. He is reaching out to so many….will you stop to hear His call? Confess your sins and turn back to Him. He loves you as if you were His only Child. It’s almost too amazing to understand.. a Holy God in heaven who knows all about you, He understands you because He made your heart. We are told over and over again that He watches us, He bends down to hear us and He listens to our conversations.
It makes my heart joyful to imagine that our God cares so much for us. I saw a great King bend down from His throne to hear me as I prayed! He has a place in the heavens for each one of us- yes, even YOU! A place in the heavenlies before His throne!
Listen: “In the same way, there is more joy in heaven over one lost sinner who repents and returns to God than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven’t strayed away!”  Out of millions and millions of people- He stops to reach down to you. Come back, come back- His hand is still reaching even as you go about your sinning, turning your head, ignoring the warnings. He waits,  He is patient. There will be a time when there are no more chances, there will not always be a moment of Grace that you have right now- because a season of judgment is ahead for each one of us. For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. For it is written:

As I live, says the Lord,
Every knee shall bow to Me,
And every tongue shall confess to God.”

So then each of us shall give account of himself to God.  Therefore let us not judge one another anymore, but rather resolve this, not to put a stumbling block or a cause to fall in our brother’s way

Don’t you realize that you become the slave of whatever you choose to obey? You can be a slave to sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God, which leads to righteous living. …If you have doubts about whether or not you should eat something, you are sinning if you go ahead and do it. For you are not following your convictions. If you do anything you believe is not right, you are sinning.
But now you are free from the power of sin and have become slaves of God. Now you do those things that lead to holiness and result in eternal life.  For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.

2 Peter 3:9The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent
Matthew 4:17 From then on Jesus began to preach, “Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near.
Matthew 3:2Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near.
Psalm 7:12 If a person does not repent, God will sharpen his sword; he will bend and string his bow.
James 5:16 :Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.
Daniel 9:20 I went on praying and confessing my sin and the sin of my people, pleading with the LORD my God for Jerusalem, his holy mountain.

Revelation 9:21 And they did not repent of their murders or their witchcraft or their sexual immorality or their thefts.
Hebrews 12:17You know that afterward, when he wanted his father’s blessing, he was rejected. It was too late for repentance, even though he begged with bitter tears
2 Corinthians 12:21
Yes, I am afraid that when I come again, God will humble me in your presence. And I will be grieved because many of you have not given up your old sins. You have not repented of your impurity, sexual immorality, and eagerness for lustful pleasure
2 Corinthians 7:9 Now I am glad I sent it, not because it hurt you, but because the pain caused you to repent and change your ways. It was the kind of sorrow God wants his people to have, so you were not harmed by us in any way

Repent, all of you who forget me, or I will tear you apart, and no one will help you. The sacrifice the Lord desires is a broken spirit.
You will not reject a broken and repentant heart, O God

 Psalm 50:22 .Psalm 51:17

And if you do not carry your own cross and follow me, you cannot be my disciple

1-But everyone who denies me here on earth, I will also deny before my Father in heaven. Matthew 10:33
2-But since you are like lukewarm water, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouthRevelation 3:16
if we deliberately continue sinning after we have received knowledge of the truth, there is no longer any sacrifice that will cover these sins There is only the terrible expectation of God’s judgment and the raging fire that will consume his enemies.  For anyone who refused to obey the law of Moses was put to death without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses.  Just think how much worse the punishment will be for those who have trampled on the Son of God, and have treated the blood of the covenant, which made us holy, as if it were common and unholy, and have insulted and disdained the Holy Spirit who brings God’s mercy to us For we know the one who said,“I will take revenge. I will pay them back.”He also said,“The Lord will judge his own people.” It is a terrible thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
Think back on those early days when you first learned about Christ. Remember how you remained faithful even though it meant terrible suffering. 33 Sometimes you were exposed to public ridicule and were beaten, and sometimes you helped others who were suffering the same things. 34 You suffered along with those who were thrown into jail, and when all you owned was taken from you, you accepted it with joy. You knew there were better things waiting for you that will last forever. So do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord. Remember the great reward it brings you! 36 Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God’s will. Then you will receive all that he has promised.

37 “For in just a little while,
the Coming One will come and not delay.
38 And my righteous ones will live by faith.
But I will take no pleasure in anyone who turns away.”
But we are not like those who turn away from God to their own destruction. We are the faithful ones, whose souls will be saved. Hebrews 10

We all fall short, we all struggle…  We have a helper- the Holy Spirit : Letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.

22 I love God’s law with all my heart. 23 But there is another power within me that is at war with my mind. This power makes me a slave to the sin that is still within me. 24 Oh, what a miserable person I am! Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin and death?  Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord. So you see how it is: In my mind I really want to obey God’s law, but because of my sinful nature I am a slave to sin. So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.  For the sinful nature is always hostile to God. It never did obey God’s laws, and it never will.  That’s why those who are still under the control of their sinful nature can never please God. But you are not controlled by your sinful nature. You are controlled by the Spirit if you have the Spirit of God living in you.

For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”

OUR BLESSED HOPE:   if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness 1 John 1:9

I repented…now what?  Prove by the way you live that you have repented of your sins and turned to God Matthew 3:8
“Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit Luke 15:7Acts 2:38

Dear Holy Father in Heaven,

Trembling I stand before you, for the world has begun to pull so many from Holiness. Where can it be found? How shall I know it? How can I know all the hidden sins in my heart? Open our eyes to the sin that tries to trip so many of us. Reveal the sins in our heart and forgive us for the ways we have not honored you or your name. Cleanse us Lord and keep us on your path. We desire with all our being to walk with you, protect us from the evil one and lead us along the right pathways. Teach me how to prepare for the coming of the King of Glory. Teach me how to keep the oil always burning. I want to be blameless before you and ready to usher in the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
O Lord, You are Good and your Mercy endures forever. In you I put my hope and in you my soul desires. Make us bold for your names sake, speak through us to save those perishing around us. Forgive us Lord, and thank you for sending us the Savior of the world.

BE CAREFUL! MANY PREACHERS AND TEACHERS ARE TEACHING A DIFFERENT GOSPEL, AND MANY ARE leading others ASTRAY. I know many people are saying repentance is not necessary and have many convincing twists so we will believe this. We don’t have time to argue with God’s word. Don’t believe everything because it sounds good. I know repenting isn’t fun, it’s horrible to admit our wrongs and acknowledge we have this junk in our hearts, but let’s clean house. Instead of arguing over this, use that time to time to say: Lord, I’m sorry, I’ve sinned. I’ve done things against you and your name. Like Isaiah said, Woe is me, for I am a man of unclean lips. Don’t think that we can stand before God on judgement day and justify our lives through reason or blame it on wrong teaching. We have God’s word written out for us, we need to repent of our sins. Admit our wrongs… and there is only one way! One way! To heaven and that is through Jesus Christ. Amen and amen

“What sorrow awaits those who have deserted me!
Let them die, for they have rebelled against me.
I wanted to redeem them,
but they have told lies about me.
14 They do not cry out to me with sincere hearts.
Instead, they sit on their couches and wail.
They cut themselves, begging foreign gods for grain and new wine,
and they turn away from me.
15 I trained them and made them strong,
yet now they plot evil against me.
16 They look everywhere except to the Most High.
They are as useless as a crooked bow.
Hosea 7

CALM DOWN!!!! Psalm 131 calm down! calm down!

Lord, my heart is not haughty,
Nor my eyes lofty.
Neither do I concern myself with great matters,
Nor with things too profound for me.
Surely I have calmed and quieted my soul,
Like a weaned child with his mother;
Like a weaned child is my soul within me.
O Israel, hope in the Lord from this time forth and forever.

I don’t know about you, but sometimes when I stop to pray- even if my surroundings are quiet and calm, my mind is going a million miles per hour. I just can’t seem to quiet my mind down enough to pray-  or even to quiet my mind in order for Him to speak to me. It’s like my mind is a wild race horse running away from it’s owner-“Hey! Get back here, I need you!”

In the quietness of my house I knelt down quietly, bowed my head- and off I went…..

“Dear Lord,
blah blah blah blah- what do I do about this, and what about that, agh! do I have to look at my sins? can I just pray? uh,my dog barking, great there’s my phone ringing …. O Jesus my heart and mind are running mad, I wish I was on a Billy Graham retreat …  I have a million things to discuss talk about, ask, and an innumerable amount of prayer requests for others, is there room for me and oh my kids, and my family and I have to do my dishes and go to work and do you know what someone said to me and when can I go to the gym, oh yes, my husband, and talk talk talk talk oh yes and thank you thank you give me wisdom and Lord I’m all confused and my mind is going to fast for me to prrrraaaaaaaaay,Oh Jesus, help me calm down so I can pray.”

I sat in silence-a bit sad that I was too hyper in my mind to feel like I could talk to the Lord.

Again I asked “ Lord help me calm down so I can pray

Kind of disturbed with myself, I got up, sat on the couch and opened up my bible to wherever. I opened up to Psalm 131— and read

“ I have calmed and  quieted myself”

Lord, my heart is not proud;
my eyes are not haughty.
I don’t concern myself with matters too great
or too awesome for me to grasp.
Instead, I have calmed and quieted myself,
like a weaned child who no longer cries for its mother’s milk.
Yes, like a weaned child is my soul within me.
O Israel, put your hope in the Lord—  now and always

Wow, that’s weird……I just prayed for that. I began to read, reread, ponder and meditate until I had the entire verse memorized.  After hours of studying this scripture, something supernatural happened. It was amazing.  How can I explain it?????  I felt as if I was underwater swimming – in a beautiful place- quietness surrounded me and my soul was calm. My mind was refreshed and silenced as I looked in awe and wonder of God’s great creation.  Quiet… beautiful..
To prepare my mind and heart for prayer, I always stop to meditate on this verse.

Walk with me through the scripture……….

Psalm 131
Lord my heart is not Proud,

I don’t consider myself above others, this only leads to restlessness. I don’t hunger for adoration or attention. I consider Moses, the most humble man on the earth. I put others first. This humbleness and contentment allows God’s leading in our life. I don’t need to prove myself to others, but the Lord is my security.
I keep far from pride and check my heart for any hidden pride that may have snuck in. Uh ooo- everytime I meditate on this, it’s as if the Lord opens my eyes to hidden sins I didn’t see- maybe unforgiveness that snuck in, the way I treated someone, not putting Him first, or wrong motives.  Father keep me humble and non judgemental. Teach me to live like Jesus, seeing others greater than I and being a servant to others. Let me not seek fame, wealth or anything this world has to offer, but give my life and heart and mind to the Lord.
My eyes are not haughty
My eyes do not condemn others. I don’t think I’m better than other people. I put others first and consider them. Have I been selfish? Have I looked down on someone else because of the way they look or dress? Lord, forgive me for my pride and help me live with a humble heart.  Put others first – this is the way to lead others to Christ. Teach me to die to myself and let Christ reign in my life.

I don’t consider myself with things to great for me to grasp. Neither do I concern myself with great matters,Nor with things too profound for me.
I put my life in the Lord’s hands and trust Him. I bring my thoughts, anxieties and my unanswered questions captive to Jesus. I don’t worry about matters that surround me, for I know the Lord takes care of me. I remember Isaiah 51:12 that reminds me not to worry about the words of defeat and despair around me, but to put all my trust in my heavenly Father.
Sure, I want all the answers….but patience is key as well as bringing thoughts to Christ.
Don’t sit and worry- why? how? what if? what’s going to happen? what will they think of me? Don’t worry and don’t be concerned with these things. Think only of things that are true, God honoring, worthy of Praise, trustworthy,  holy, thankfulness, noble and virtuous (Phil 4:8) bringing all things up to Him in prayer.

I have calmed and quieted myself
Ahhhhhh – that feels good to be calm and worry free. God has calmed my heart. It is like diving into a beautiful ocean deep within the sea. There is quietness and calmness around me. My heart is calm and quiet as I am surrounded by His Glory and beauty. In Wonderous awe, I am silenced as I see the beauty that surrounds me. There I am, surrounded by His awesome works and His mighty Power.
Be calm and quiet- Fix your thoughts

Like a weaned child with his mother

My complete trust and faith in Him grows more and more each day. I know He takes care of me and will always supply all my needs. I don’t need to throw myself on the ground, kicking and screaming about what may happen tomorrow. I know the Lord will supply and surround me with all the grace I need for each day.
Like a child who fully trusts in his parents- who doesn’t need to worry about tomorrow- so is my soul within me.

Like a weaned child is my soul within me

Just in case it didn’t sink in the first time,  the bible repeats this for confirmation. As a content child, so is my soul- fully trusting, content, and calm. I am like a child who has everything he wants or needs. My heart is calm and content. I have everything I need in Christ Jesus. I am happy, content and quiet- and so is my soul.  The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want. He leads me, He guides me, He restores me and prepares a table before me in the presence of my enemies. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I shall dwell in the House of the Lord forever

O Israel, hope in the Lord from this time forth and forever.
Dear Child of God, you can put your trust in Him. O Lord, I put all my hope in you, now and forever.

( I’ve been tested on calmness the entire time I’ve been writing this post. My teenager decided now would be the perfect time to have a meltdown about sport tryouts, my dog hasn’t stopped barking, I got locked in the office as I was writing because the doorknobs fell off then my entire computer shut down and everything disappeared- then my side dish I made for dinner has mysteriously disappeared and now I have to cook again. hmmmm)

And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen Romans 16:20
