Wii dance 3 Review –Christian Review — Warning: Inappropriate Language

You sing trivial songs to the sound of the harp
and fancy yourselves to be great musicians like David.
You drink wine by the bowlful
and perfume yourselves with fragrant lotions. Amos 6:5 (in other words, God sees us sitting around singing worthless songs, chanting them over and over. We think we are something else, great musicians as we sing worthless songs. He must wonder..Why aren’t they thanking me? praying to me? singing to ME?)

I don’t like to rain on anyone’s parade, but you need to know the filth being filtered into the hearts of your children. Above all- Guard your heart- for out of it flow the issues of life. The issues flowing out of the songs our youth are listening to are promiscuity, filth and demonic oppression!  We should be filling our hearts and mind with songs of praise, songs of thanksgiving, and songs of remembrance.Take some time and read the words our children are chanting to just a few of the songs in the dance 3 from Wii.
I was at my child’s school event last month and they had a dj for the kids. All the songs from the Wii and radio were being played and blared throughout the school. I could not believe the hundreds and hundreds of kids who not only knew the words to the songs, but also every dance move to these songs. We are talking 5-9 year olds singing about sex, promiscuity, and evil- and dancing to it.
We need to open our eyes. It’s not just the Wii and dance 3- it’s everything! The words in the songs, movies, tv shows, commercials, advertisements…it’s time to get serious about guarding our children and their hearts.
Wii dance 4 is bad too! I tried the country dance and had to return it because the animated dancer was half-naked with major cleavage. What is society trying to do to the next generation?  What are we teaching our sons and daughters? I hear my children singing these songs, their friends chanting them. and I …gasp! Even woke up singing some of this garbage in my heart.  The unedited versions of some of these songs are even worse. What I have written here is what you will hear on Dance 3.

I’ve written some of the lyrics of the songs with a breakdown note below each one.  Wii Dance 3 has about 48 songs, this reviews only 10 of the 48.   Stop and take a listen……………………….

 Corrupting the next generation

1-Promiscuous Girl

You lookin’ for her in the day time with the light
You might be the type if I play my cards right
I’ll find out by the end of the night
You expect me to just let you hit it
But will you still respect me if you get it
Promiscuous girl  Wherever you are
I’m all alone And it’s you that I want

and the girl sings: Promiscuous boy You already know that I’m all yours What you waiting for?
and he serenades:  Promiscuous girl You’re teasing me, you know what I want And I got what you need
[N:] Roses are red Some diamonds are blue, Chivalry is dead But you’re still kinda cute.

2-ET by Katy Perry

You’re so hypnotizing  Could you be the devil?
Could you be an angel?
Your touch magnetizing

Feels like I am floating
Leaves my body glowing
They say, be afraid  You’re not like the others Futuristic lover
Different DNA  They don’t understand you
You’re from a whole ‘nother world
A different dimension You open my eyes
Lead me into the light

Kiss me, kiss me Infect me with your love and Fill me with your poison
Wanna be a victim Ready for abduction
Boy, you’re an alien Your touch so foreign It’s supernatural Extraterrestrial
You’re so supersonic Wanna feel your powers Stun me with your lasers

Your kiss is cosmic Every move is magic
This is transcendental On another level Boy, you’re my lucky star
I wanna walk on your wave length And be there when you vibrate
For you I’ll risk it all

Break it down: I’m speechless. I feel sick. There is something really creepy going on here. There is nothing human about this song. …fill me with your poison, wanna feel your powers, are you a devil?.. Sounds like a serenade to a fallen angel. Trying to make this song okay will not work. She is messing with something that is dark & evil and sharing it with the world. “Hey kids! Now you can be gay, straight, or intergalactic!” When I sat to watch this on Wii, I got the weirdest feeling in my heart.  Just so wrong, and it looks like she is wearing ram horns.

3-Pump It-

wanna hate on us  (thank you for leaving out the N word, wii)
be envious
And I know why they hating on usJust confess, your girl admits that we da shhhhhhhhhhh When we play you shake your ………
(Shake it shake it) shake it girl
Make sure you don’t break it, girl
But chick backstage when we in town (ha)
She like man on drunk (fool)
She wanna hit n’ run (errr)
Yeah, that’s the speed
That’s what we do
That’s who we be
That’s what we do
That’s who we be
B-L-A-C-K -E -Y-E-D-P to the E, then the A to the S
When we play you shake your (…………silence)

Break it down:  so my kids can fill in the blanks they left here “ When we play, you shake your….”. Sure it could be anything. But really, How many things are left to shake?  And “girl admit that we da shhhhhhh”. Uhhh, anything could start with sh, I wonder what your kids sing to that?  The unedited version of this song uses the N word! Then we have the drinking, the hit and run…..

4-I don’t feel like dancing

Wake up in the morning with a head like ‘What ya done?’
This used to be the life but I don’t need another one
Good luck cuttin’ nothin’, carryin’ on, you wear them gowns
So how come I feel so lonely when you’re up gettin’ down?
But I don’t feel like dancin’ when the old Joanna plays
My heart could take a chance but my two feet can’t find a way
You think that I could muster up a little soft shoe gentle sway
But I don’t feel like dancin’, no sir, no dancin’ today
Rather be home with the one in bed till dawn with you
So I’ll just pretend that I know which way to bend
And I’m gonna tell the whole world that you’re mine
Just please understand when I see you clapped your hands
If you stick around I’m sure that you’ll be fine
Why’d you break it down when I’m not in the mood?
Don’t feel like dancin’, dancin’
Rather be home with no one if I can’t get down with you
Just lay me down As you float away into the shimmer light

Break it down: Somebody pass the Prozac! seriously! Someone down in the dumps – a deep dark hole-put this song and dance together. It totally spooks me out. Something very dark and sinister is in this video and music. “In bed with you till dawn…which way to bend”. Those are just some of the words chanted over and over.  I can’t figure out what is dancing. It’s not a girl, or a man…it’s an iceberg drag queen. I can, however, tell you that this dance threw my shoulder out and tore a ligament. Let’s check out the lyrics. “Rather be in bed till dawn with you, so I’ll pretend that I know which way to bend” ? What in the world…I don’t even want to go there…moving on….. “rather be home with no one if I can’t get down with you” Promiscuity at it best. Our teenagers and our children should not be singing this. despicable!

5-Katy Perry: Teenage Dream

Let’s go all the way tonight
No regrets, just love
We can dance, until we die
You and I, will be young forever
You make me feel Like I’m livin’ a
Teenage dream The way you turn me on
My heart stops When you look at me
Just one touch Now baby I believe
This is real
got drunk on the beach Got a motel
We can dance, until we die
You and I, will be young forever
I’m a get your heart racing
In my skin-tight jeans
Be your teenage dream tonight
Let you put your hands on me
The way you turn me on

Break it down: Katy at it again, don’t know who this is with- a man, woman, an animal, or extraterrestrial. Background setting is a high school prom dance as she sings: runaway with me, just one touch, lets go all the way, got a motel, let me be your teenage dream tonight, ill let you put your hands on me tonight, no regrets.  I don’t think I can elaborate any more than the words of the song….  I hope your children aren’t putting this in their heart. You have been warned. It will affect them, it will become part of their life. Fair warning. You heard it.

6-Boom!

It’s in Spanish and  translations vary- but let’s just say it’s promiscuous.

Break it down:  This is a perfect instructional for innapropriate dancing – not the dance you want to do at the family picnic, reunion, or Christmas party- nor the dance you want to see your 10 year old daughter dance to- and heaven forbid! No boys should ever ever dance this.  I couldn’t locate real lyrics, but the dancing is ungodly, that is putting it mildly. A few of the songs on the wii are in a different language,  finding the correct translation has been difficult (especially for the Bollywood rainbow hindu song) Try to figure out the lyrics, I give up. Super weird, but again, if you are looking for an instructional dance video on dancing inappropriately, this would be the one.

7- Lollipop
I said, sucking too hard on your lollipop,
or love’s gonna get you down,I said,
sucking too hard on your lollipop, or love’s gonna get you down.
Sucking too hard on your lollipop, or love’s gonna get you down,
sucking too hard on your lollipop, or love’s gonna get you down.
Say love, say love,
or love’s gonna get you down love’s gonna get you down.
Take a look at the girl next door,
she’s a player and a down right whore,
Jesus slows up, she wants more,
oh bad girls get you down.
Too much candy will rot your soul.

Breaking it down: I did my research on this song. The singer claims it’s an innocent song to his niece about love. That is a load of bull crap right there. Come on! The tune is catchy and awesome, the dance is super fun, but when I hear my girls singing “sucking hard on my lollipop”…something just doesn’t sit right with that. If my son was singing that I’d chase him out of the house. If you think it’s innocent, listen to your kid sing it as they dance- your insides will cringe. Makes calling the girl in the song a whore look like child’s play. Who would notice Whore and Jesus in the same sentence here… as we are trying to figure out why a dude would sing a song about sucking too hard on a lollipop as a way to teach his niece about love. PUHLEASE. How stupid do they think we are? If he is talking to his niece about love why does he say the neighbor is a whore. Hello! Can I get a witness out there? The dance is super fun but the lyrics weird me out. I’m not sure about the candyland background on this one, the “sock puppets” …I have no comment there. Maybe my mind is just in the gutter after reading all these lyrics. I need some holy oil over here.

8- LMFAO- Party Rock anthem

Party rock is in the house tonight Everybody just have a good time And we gonna make you lose your mind Everybody just have a good time
Party rock is in the house tonight Everybody just have a good time And we gonna make you lose your mind We just wanna see ya shake that
In the club party rock, lookin’ for your girl? She on my jock Nonstop when we in the spot, booty movin’ weight like she on the block Where the drank? I gots to know, tight jeans, tattoo ’cause I’m rock ‘n’ roll Half black, half white, domino, game the money, op-a-doe
Yo, I’m runnin’ through these ho’s like Drano I got that devilish flow, rock ‘n’ roll, no halo We party rock, yeah, that’s the crew that I’m reppin’ On the rise to the top, no lead in our zeppelin, hey We just wanna see you shake it now Now you wanna be, you’re naked now

Breaking it down: First off… the name LMFAO should be a warning sign. If you don’t know what it means, don’t look it up. “I’m running through these ho’s like drano” that should be a second warning. Again, I don’t know what gender it is that is dancing..I’m so confused? It’s a man? No..a woman? No.. a nephilim? I couldn’t tell you. Have no idear. We are told to “shake that” with drinks and a devilish flow. Just lose your mind and have a good time. Obvious message it to lose your mind. To be honest, the first thought that popped in my head when I heard these lyrics was the drugs and “date drugs” people drop in drinks in clubs. What else would make someone lose their mind while out dancing?

9-Jump for my love

Hold me, I’ll give you all that you need Wrap your love around me You’re so excited, I can feel you getting hotter Oh baby, I’ll take you down, I’ll take you down Where no one’s ever gone before And if you want more, if you want more, more, more feel my touch Jump if you want to taste my kisses In the night then, jump, jump for my love Jump, you know these arms can feel you up Your love burns inside
Oh it feels so right  Come to me if you want me tonight, jump  I know my heart can Make you happy
Jump, you know these arms can feel you up  Jump in, you want to taste my kisses

Sure, this could be innocent. I’m sure she is talking about Hershey kisses in the night…..and she probably has a fever or some kind of infection. It’s just not a song I want my children singing.  We are all so programmed to these songs that we don’t recognize the impact they have on us.

10- Gwen Stephani- What are you waiting for?
( You stupid!!!- chanted in this song 4x to listener)

Born to perish, life is shortake a chance you stupid
Take a chance you stupid Take a chance you stupid
Take a chance you stupid
You’re still a super hot female
You got your million-dollar contract
I can’t wait to go back into Japan
Get me lots of brand new fans
Damn you’ve got some wicked style

Stop and image your child dancing to those lyrics. I’m sure Gwen was singing to herself, but I’m not quite sure ,hmmm. She couldn’t have gotten this far with that stinking thinking. I think she is calling everyone else stupid (hoes)- wording in the original version. Money, fame, materials, the normal american dream. Radio version says take a chance you stupid hoe. Nice, real nice.

Sidenote on a few more:
Baby one more time– another lovely song to dance to about hitting it one more time because their loneliness is killing them sung by cheerleaders.
Mamasita– spanish song with two dancers, one a women and the other being is beyond questionable. At one point I thought maybe it was michael Jackson? Skirt is so short, I’m pretty sure I saw some digital underwear.
Chemical Brothers Hey boy, Hey girl. If you are looking for an acid trip minus the acid, here’s your portal. Some twisting circular mayan looking background with what looks like a marijuana leaf as it’s center. Dancing indian chief is totally cracked out. Seems very occultic and if you turn the music down and just watch the dancing,  it looks like he is possessed. Reminds me of a 6th grade teacher I had who would beat our desks with a ruler. Demonic acid trip dancing. Totally weird.
Pata Pata– African? Cool dance, but we have no idea what words the tribal indian ladies are dancing to.
Giddy on up– super cool dance, but having my children sing along about her loser boyfriend who dumped her for another chick who wears bath and body works… not what I want to hear. Plus she is dressed like a call girl from the old westerns. Another depressing love gone bad story.
Beautiful liar: open up with two girls gyrating –not a family time move….another song about a love story gone wrong. Blah blah blah
Anja – “Dance All Nite”: a  few lyrics, you decide:  I drink Cristal champagne it’s only the best I sit in V.I.P, I’m above the rest, Give me more… Give me more… Give me more… I’m just a sexy girl With men around the world, Champagne and caviar Hotels and fancy cars
Bollywood Rainbow – “Kurio ko uddah le jana” It’s a Hindu dance song.. NO TRANSLATION FOUND! Can you believe this? Why can’t they make a Christian dance song?

Guard your heart above all else,
for it determines the course of your life.
 Avoid all perverse talk;
    stay away from corrupt speech.
 Look straight ahead,
and fix your eyes on what lies before you.
Mark out a straight path for your feet;
    stay on the safe path.
Don’t get sidetracked;
keep your feet from following evil.Proverbs 4:23

Don’t Judge Others Romans 2 , Matthew 7

Who may worship in your sanctuary, Lord?
Who may enter your presence on your holy hill?
Those who lead blameless lives and do what is right,
speaking the truth from sincere hearts.
 Those who refuse to gossip
    or harm their neighbors
or speak evil of their friends Ps 15:1-4

In judging others we condemn ourselves.  If we don’t stay constantly in the Word it’s easy to fall into sin. Being a Christian does not give us a pass to judge others- however there is a scripture that says you can judge one in your church assembly to correct an issue ( 1 Corinthians 5 ) . It’s a thin line, but I think it would be best to stay away from

1-      Gossip- Do not spread slanderous gossip among your people (Lev 19:16)
2-      Slander- Hiding hatred makes you a liar; slandering others makes you a fool (Prov 10;18)
3-      Pride and haughtiness-I will not tolerate people who slander their neighbors. I will not endure conceit and pride (Ps 101:5)
4-      Wrong thoughts of others
5-       Complaining about others-Do everything without complaining and arguing (phil 2:14)

Proverbs 10:19 Too much talk leads to sin. Be sensible and keep your mouth shut.

Sometimes I’ve found myself doing just that- talking about others- who don’t do things I agree with. The Holy Spirit immediately convicts me and reminds me I need to work on the log in my own eye first.

The other day I was on the phone discussing someone else’s parenting.  I suddenly remembered that in my hurried rush that morning I had done the exact thing I was condemning someone else for…. I heard this in my heart:

You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge another, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things.

Rumors are dainty morsels that sink deep into one’s heart.
Proverbs 18:8

This dainty morsel may bring you in to new hierarchies in the church as we join other gossipers who  quickly judge those in our churches – our leaders, our pastors and their families.   How can we call ourselves Christians when we sit in dark corners hating those leading us in the church? Instead of gossiping about your pastor and his wife, pray for them. They are the first in the line of fire for attack, they need your prayer- not your judging eyes. Let’s stop all this evil and remember God has no favorites- we are all precious in His eyes.  We are all part of one body- Christ being the head

Accept the one whose faith is weak, without quarreling over disputable matters.  One person’s faith allows them to eat anything, but another, whose faith is weak, eats only vegetables.  The one who eats everything must not treat with contempt the one who does not, and the one who does not eat everything must not judge the one who does, for God has accepted them. Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To their own master, servants stand or fall. And they will stand, for the Lord is able to make them stand.

God’s House is not our Club- It’s HIS HOUSE
(A house of Prayer)

Here’s another kicker-A few years ago I met a new friend, but my “church friends” didn’t like her.  She was new to church and didn’t really talk or live the way we did, but I liked her. I invited her to a church service one night but my church friends were not happy about this. They told me she didn’t belong, if she wanted to go, she should go by herself and if I showed up with her, they didn’t want to sit with me.  Hmmmmm, I thought- do I need this drama? Should I ‘forget” I invited her and have a good time with my friends or should I call her and tell her I’m picking her up. As I sat in my car contemplating what I was about to do I heard a voice speak loudly into my heart “ My house is not your club” Agh! I didn’t need to think about that anymore. I called her and picked her up- the night was a blessing to her, her family and others.  When my friends saw I had brought her along, they said “why did you bring her?” and I answered “ The Lord told me that His house is not my club” We were all silenced, and one replied “Well that would have done it for me too” So a great lesson for us all! His house is not our clubhouse!

Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification.

As I sit here and post I’m really upset with someone I know and I want to gossip and tell everyone what I think, giving no consideration to the person.  I’m quite perturbed but instead of judging this person I have decided to bring my thoughts captive to Christ. I know I am not to seek revenge, to slander, to judge, so I bring it to Christ. Sure I could confront the person in a loving way- but I’m sure most of you, as I have, have attempted this with those we know and our words go unheard. So up to the Lord I bring my thoughts. Like Joyce Meyers said “Go to the throne, not the phone”.

“Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.  “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye?  You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye. ] “Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven Matt 7 Luke 6:37

Another lesson  the Lord taught me with this verse is that when we judge others, we allow judgement on ourselves. I used to think that was fine- I’d get it all in one big lashing on judgement day but in reality- as soon as we judge others – we are immediately judged. We reap what we sow- and this sin in particular sprouts overnight- like a stubborn weed or one of those weird mushrooms that shows up overnight.

His Kindness Leads Us To Repentance

You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge another, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things.  Now we know that God’s judgment against those who do such things is based on truth.  So when you, a mere human being, pass judgment on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God’s judgment?  Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, forbearance and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance?

Did you notice what God’s kindness is intended to do? It is to lead us to repentance.  Being a Christian doesn’t make us sinless, in fact, if we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves. Oooooo how many Christians think that title makes them perfect- or exempt from repenting? (I think that is a lie the devil whispers in our ear)  We must ask the Lord to search our heart for any sin lurking in there, we must repent and change.  I haven’t heard repentance preached in a while have you? It’s not a popular subject today. No one is exempt from repentance. So we who judge the speck in our neighbors eye, need to stop and focus on the log in our own eye.

Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait until the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of the heart. At that time each will receive their praise from God.  1 Cor 4;5

Search me, God, and know my heart;  test me and know my anxious thoughts.
See if there is any offensive way in me,  and lead me in the way everlasting Ps 139:23-24

Psalm 101:5 I will not tolerate people who slander their neighbors. I will not endure conceit and pride
Ephesians 4:31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior
Proverbs 25:10 Others may accuse you of gossip, and you will never regain your good reputation
Proverbs 26:20 Fire goes out without wood, and quarrels disappear when gossip stops

OUR JUDGING OTHERS SHOWS US THAT WE NEED TO WORK ON OUR OWN HARD, STUBBORN, CALLOUSED AND UNREPENTANT HEARTS. JUDGING OTHERS STORES UP WRATH AND TERRIBLE PUNISHMENT WITHIN OUR HEART.
But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God’s wrath , when his righteous judgment will be revealed.  God “will repay each person according to what they have done.” To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life. 8 But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger. 9 There will be trouble and distress for every human being who does evil: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile; 10 but glory, honor and peace for everyone who does good: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. 11 For God does not show favoritism.

FOR GOD DOES NOT SHOW FAVORITISM
YOU ARE PRECIOUS TO HIM
(and so is that person you are complaining about)

Search me, God, and know my heart;  test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me,  and lead me in the way everlasting.

🙂 Hey- are people judging you wrongly?  no worries and no fret- For the Lord your God goes out before you and fights for you. No weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and this is their vindication from me,”declares the Lord. (this verse is a sword that goes before you-speak it over your life- for it is alive and powerful)

He will never leave you Nor forsake you. For God has said " I will not fail you I will never abandon you" heb 13:5 Peace my friends!

May the Lord’s Peace fill your hearts and minds- eagerly awaiting the Lord’s return.

Grieving the Holy Spirit (Spurgeon)

I was reading through Spurgeon notes and sermons on Grieving the Holy Spirit and thought I’d post some of his thoughts and teaching on this.  I think you’ll enjoy this and find it quite thought-provoking. ( click here for more on “Grieve not the Holy Spirit” Eph 4:30)

(notes/ phrases taken from Charles Spurgeon 1859 sermon no. 278)

And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Ephesians 4:30

Notice the bible does not say “Don’t make him angry” but instead it reads “Grieve Him not”.  Some people are barely moved when someone is angry with them, but who cannot be somehow moved when we know we have caused someone grief? For grief is a sweet combination of anger and of love. Love sweetens the anger. Perhaps you wouldn’t care much if you made someone angry without cause, but to grieve that person and without intention, would cause you distress of heart and you would not rest until this grief had subsided, until you had made some explanation or apology or had done your best to take away the grief. When we see anger in another, we at once begin to feel hostility. Anger begets anger, but grief begets pity and pity is next to love and we are to love those we have caused to grieve.  Grieve not the Holy Spirit; do not cause Him to mourn.

The Love of the Holy Spirit for you

Oh, how He loves you! It is difficult to put into words, except to look at actions. Look back on your life from childhood and see how the Holy Spirit searched you out in love to stir up your conscience and correct us on account of our youthful sins. How often has the Spirit of the Lord gone after us. How often have I remembered his guiding?  He has whispered in our ears “ My son, give me your heart, go to thy chamber, shut they door , confess thy sins, and seek a Savior’s love and blood” –and how often or not have we listened and obeyed? How often have we put those words aside? But blessed be his dear name, that He has never let us go! Though our steps were leading us straight to the fires of hell, he sought after us to pluck us from the fire. He wrestled with us and would not let us destroy our souls. Oh, how many times have we ill-treated Him? Wasn’t it the Holy Spirit who guided you to Jesus? Who opened your blind eyes and your deaf ears to hear of a pardoning love? Who opened your clasped hands to receive the Savior’s grace? Though we are all still learning, He is our blessed instructor and continues to lead us into many truths. The Spirit comes down to dwell with us stubborn, unruly wild colts to teach us the mystery of the kingdom and make known to us the wonder’s of a Savior’s love. He has helped you in all your labors; He has comforted you in all your distress. He has filled you hearts with peace and Joy in believing. How many times would your heart be broken if He had not bound it up? He bound up your wounds. He teaches, preaches, commands with authority, how many of us are willing to do this- to bear with unbelievers, with sinners, and to search out the troubles souls helping them find compassion? How wonderful is the Holy Spirit, who would stoop down from heaven to become a comforter to us.

We, ourselves, groan within our spirit which the spirit hears and it reaches the heights of heaven to the ears of Christ. He is full of tender compassion, he helps us in our infirmities. He gives us strength, and we cannot say it is on our own accomplishment. He has so sweetly enabled us, and how often have we forgotten to thank Him, must we not admire His love? Must it not be a fearful sin indeed to grieve the Holy Spirit by whom we are sealed? The Holy Spirit dwells in the heart of all God’s redeemed and blood-washed people. Oh, my friends, when I think how often you and I have let the devil in, I wonder the Spirit has not withdrawn from us. He preserves the saints what a wonderful miracle.  It is a wonder that the Holy Spirit is there at all, but he must be daily grieved with all the evil guests, false traitors, that try to enter the heart of man. We often talk about the love of Jesus, but when do you talk about the love of the Holy Spirit? Now we are not here exalting one person of the trinity above another, but I do feel this: that we should love Jesus with all our hearts, and let us love the Holy Spirit too. Do not forget Christ’s cross, let us not forget the Spirit’s operations.

The Holy Spirit Has Sealed You

The Spirit himself is said to be our seal and our pledge of inheritance. He confirms we are truly the children of God, we are born of God. No faith is true if it is not sealed with the Holy Spirit. The Lord has anointed us and has sealed us and has put the Spirit in our heart. Unsealed faith is like a poison, but sealed faith is true faith.  The Holy Spirit seals us with preservation until Christ comes to fully redeem us.

 Grieving the Spirit

How can I grieve the Holy Spirit? You may grieve Him with impure thoughts. He cannot bear sin and it grieves Him if your heart is lifted up to anything other than Him. We also grieve Him if we indulge in outward acts of sin. For he cannot dwell in our hearts if we continue to carry on that way. Is you prayer closet cob-webbed? Have you neglected Him? Is your bible collecting dust on the shelf in the back room? Do you not seek to do any good in this world? Do you only live for yourself? As the scripture says “ They have forsaken me, they have left the fountain of waters, they have hewn unto themselves broken cisterns” I can see the Spirit grieving when you sit down to read a novel and there sits your bible unread. Don’t you know how precious this book Is? You have no time for prayer, but the Spirit sees you very active about worldly things, and you have many hours to spare for relaxation and amusement. He is grieved when He sees you love worldly things better than you love Him.

Take care that He does not go away from you, for it will be a pitiful thing for you if He leaves you to yourself. He is grieved with your unbelief, doubt and worry. (Read Hebrews 11) Do you doubt His trustworthiness? His Power? Let us make a confession, that we have grieved the Holy Spirit. What happens to us when we grieve the Holy Spirit? He is grieved again and again and again, and still bears with us. But finally, when His grief become excessive, He will say “ I will stop my operations here, I will leave” What a miserable state we will be left in if this happens. His instructions we will hear no more, we open the word- but no longer understand. We go to our notes, but they make no sense. Where has our comfort gone? Where has our joy gone? Now there is darkness and no presence of spiritual power. Once we could do all things, but now we can do nothing.. The Lord will withdrawal himself at that time, no longer will light shine, joy will not be found, spiritual power and comfort –all gone. Oh, how thankful I am to the Holy Spirit for the abundance of grace and gifts He fills us with.

Now consider this: Some may not agree, however, some of the present day churches have grieved the Holy Spirit. For the Spirit deals with the churches just as it does with individuals. Consider this- how many lost are the churches bringing in? Is the pool of baptism unstirred? This is sad, but the churches seem to like it that way. For the Spirit of God is grieved there in our churches and He is gone. He is still present here with us. He has not left us, even though we are unworthy. Oh, how I want to see the Holy Spirit poured out on the churches!!

Now, go home to your houses and humble yourselves before God and cry aloud that he will visit His church and open the windows of heaven to pour out His grace- that nations would be born in a day, and sinners saved by the thousands- oh, that revival would come. The Spirit of God never leaves His people finally, He leaves them for chastisement, but not for damnation. Sometimes He leaves that they may get good knowing their own weakness, but will not leave them finally to perish. Are you in a state of backsliding or coldness?

Listen to me and may the Lord bless these words: Brother, do not stay any longer in this condition and in the absence of the Holy Spirit. Use every means so that the Spirit may come back to you. Search out the sin that has grieved the Spirit, give it up, slay that sin, repent with tears and sighs, continue in prayer, and never rest until the Holy Ghost comes back to you. Pray “Return, return, O Holy Spirit return, and dwell in my soul” Yield to Him, resist Him not, and grieve Him not.
Repent and be converted every one of you, that your sins may be blotted out when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the lord and remember these words:

He that believeth in the Lord Jesus and is baptized, shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned” May the Lord grant that we many not grieve the Holy Spirit. Amen

Pray Psalms 51:
Have Mercy on me, O God
because of your unfailing love.
Because of your great compassion
blot out the stain of my sins.
Wash me clean from my guilt
purify me from my sin.
For I recognized my rebellion,
it haunts me day and night.
Against you and you alone, have I sinned,
I have done what is evil in your sight
You will be proved right in what you say,
any your judgement against me is just.
For I was born a sinner
yes, from the moment my mother conceived me
But you desire honesty from the womb
teaching me wisdom even there
Purify me from my sins and I will be clean
wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.

Oh, give me back my joy again, a
you have broken me
now let me rejoice
Don’t keep looking at my sins
remove the stain of my guilt
Create in me a new heart, O God
Renew a right spirit within me
Do not banish me from your presence
and don’t take your Holy Spirit from me.

Restore me to the joy of your salvation
and make me willing to obey you
Thank I will teach your ways to rebels
and they will return to you
Unseal my lips, O Lord that my mouth may praise you
The sacrifice you desire is a broken spirit
you will not reject a broken and repentant heart, O God

And Grieve not the Holy Spirit of God. Ephesians 4:30

What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 1 Cor 6:19

And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Eph 4:30

If you had asked me what this meant a few years ago, I’d probably have some quick answer like- “don’t sin and therefore grieve the Spirit”. Honestly, I didn’t really understand it and the words sounded so old-fashioned to me, but when the Lord spoke this into my heart –“You have grieved the Holy Spirit”-  it crushed me and I  finally understood.

Let me explain:
I decided, as the years have gone by, not to watch rated R movies (and I think I need to begin backing out of some PG13 ones also) I have been really convicted and as much as I really want to laugh with a good movie, I just say no.  This decision leaves me with little left to watch except for Veggie Tales and SpongeBob, if I’m lucky. Anywhoooo….. my husband really wanted me to watch  a certain movie with him.  I read the review- knew it wasn’t for me, but made a wonderful excuse for myself; “I’ll just watch it until the bad part, and then I’ll leave”.   So I’m watching this movie and the bad part comes along- it was so shocking and repulsive, I won’t let myself remember it again. However, there I sat and watched it , the same way I do with road kill- I don’t know why. I was disgusted. I got up from the couch and walked around the house to distract my mind from what I just saw.  I thought I was good.
Later that evening, I found my way to my hidden prayer place in the house. I began to pray- but something wasn’t right. I prayed, but I felt like the Lord wasn’t there.  Lord, I prayed, where are you? I feel like you aren’t here. I feel like you aren’t listening to me. I feel alone and my prayers are going nowhere. Lord! Lord! I cried out, I knew something wasn’t right. As I wondered in silence a clear voice spoke into my heart: “You have grieved the Holy Spirit”  What! I, thought…. “but Lord, I didn’t want to, Lord, I didn’t mean to” and I heard “but you knew” and I argued back again, and I heard “but you knew” I was silenced. I felt horrible. I don’t think words can explain how I felt. Not only for doing something wrong, but that I had hurt His feelings and caused Him sorrow. The words cut right through me, and I knew I was wrong.
I felt like I had hurt my best friend’s feelings. Here was someone who loved me, cared for me, puts up with my defects, watches over me, teaches me, had never done any wrong to me – and I had hurt His feelings. My spirit was crushed, what an awful feeling to grieve the Holy Spirit who lives inside me. He doesn’t tell us, “don’t get the Holy Spirit mad”, but not to cause Him grief and sadness with the way we live our life.

IT FELT LIKE I HAD HURT MY BEST FRIEND’S FEELINGS

30 And do not bring sorrow to God’s Holy Spirit by the way you live. Remember, he has identified you as his own, guaranteeing that you will be saved on the day of redemption.

Think and Meditate on Gen 6: 4-6:  The Lord observed the extent of human wickedness on the earth, and he saw that everything they thought or imagined was consistently and totally evil. So the Lord was sorry he had ever made them and put them on the earth. It broke his heart.( KJV:And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart)

Ephesians 4 teaches us to live a life pleasing unto the Lord:

  1. Live a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God
  2. Always be humble and gentle
  3. Be patient with each other, allowing for each other’s faults because of your love
  4. Make every effort to keep yourself united in Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace.
  5. Be wise, and don’t be tossed around with every new teaching
  6. Do not be influenced by lies people use to trick you into false doctrine
  7. Speak the truth in love
  8. Grow in every way to more and more like Christ
  9. Don’t close your minds and harden your hearts against the Lord
  10. Do not live for lustful pleasure and stay away from anything impure
  11. Throw off your former way of life which is corrupted by lust and deception
  12. LET THE SPIRIT RENEW YOUR THOUGHTS AND ATTITUDES’
  13. Put on your new nature, created to be like God- truly righteous and holy
  14. Stop telling lies
  15. Don’t sin by letting anger control you
  16. Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry- for anger gives a foothold to the devil
  17. If you are a thief, quit stealing and use your hands for good hard work and give generously to others in need
  18. Do not use foul or abusive language.
  19. Let everything you say be good and helpful
  20. Let your words be encouraging to all who hear them
  21. Do not bring sorrow to God’s Holy Spirit by the way you live
  22. Get rid of all bitterness
  23. Get rid of all rage
  24. Get rid of all anger
  25. Get rid of all harsh words
  26. Get rid of all slander and gossip
  27. Get rid of all evil behavior
  28. Be Kind to one another
  29. Be tender-hearted, gentle and merciful to others as the Lord is with you
  30. Forgive one another just as God through Christ has forgiven you

God has called us to live holy lives, not impure lives.  Therefore, anyone who refuses to live by these rules is not disobeying human teaching but is rejecting God, who gives his Holy Spirit to you. 1 Thes 4:7-8

I’ll add a few more:

  1. Don’t use God’s name in vain
  2. Don’t watch movies that you know are wrong
  3. Don’t listen to music that is not good for you listen to
  4. Make time for the Lord today, He wants to spend time with you
  5. Don’t ignore Him when He tugs on your heart to pray
  6. Listen for His warnings and obey
  7. Follow Him

The Holy spirit is closer than a friend, He is our Comforter and our Helper

And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them. Ez 36:27

He is our Comforter, He is with us forever
 If
ye love me, keep my commandments. And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless, I will come to you. John 14:16-18

What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 1 co 6:19

He teaches me and guides me into all truth

When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future. 14 He will bring me glory by telling you whatever he receives from me. 15 All that belongs to the Father is mine; this is why I said, ‘The Spirit tell you whatever will he receives from me.’ John 16:12-15

Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.  But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned 1 Cor 2 : 12-14

For the Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what ye ought to say.  But you have received the Holy Spirit, and he lives within you, so you don’t need anyone to teach you what is true. For the Spirit teaches you everything you need to know, and what he teaches is true—it is not a lie. So just as he has taught you, remain in fellowship with Christ. 1 John 2:27, Luke 12:12

So they, being sent forth by the Holy Ghost, departed unto Seleucia; and from thence they sailed to Cyprus. Acts 13:4

Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. Acts 20:28

 He helps us pray

For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.  But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, Jude 1:20, Romans 8:5, 26-27

The Holy Spirit Keeps us Protected, and Sealed until the day of  Redemption;  Grieve not the Holy Spirit, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption
Looking at the leaves in my backyard, I noticed a waxy cover or seal over each of them. Though the rains and storms come, the leaves are unaffected. That is what the Holy Spirit it like for us, He is our protector in storms. Though the trials of life may hit hard, He is always there to help us, comfort us and get us back on our feet. He is there when we are tempted, helping us find our way back. He has sealed us and marked us because we belong to our Heavenly Father.

Luke 11:13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.  For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the LORD our God shall call.  REPENT, BE BAPTISED AND ASK HIM ASK HIM

FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT

Think about:  Am  I listening to the Holy Spirit? Am I obeying? Are the gifts of the Holy Spirit evident in my life?

But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and selfcontrol. There is no law against these things! Gal 5 :22   Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there.  Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.  Let us not become conceited, or provoke one another, or be jealous of one another.

SPIRITUAL GIFTS:

There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit is the source of them all. There are different kinds of service, but we serve the same Lord. God works in different ways, but it is the same God who does the work in all of us.   A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other.  To one person the Spirit gives the ability to give wise advice; to another the same Spirit gives a message of special knowledge. The same Spirit gives great faith to another, and to someone else the one Spirit gives the gift of healing He gives one person the power to perform miracles, and another the ability to prophesy. He gives someone else the ability to discern whether a message is from the Spirit of God or from another spirit. Still another person is given the ability to speak in unknown languages, while another is given the ability to interpret what is being said.  It is the one and only Spirit who distributes all these gifts. He alone decides which gift each person should have.

And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles?Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret? But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way

Let love be your highest goal!
But you should also desire the special abilities the Spirit gives—especially the ability to prophesy.  For if you have the ability to speak in tongues,] you will be talking only to God, since people won’t be able to understand you. You will be speaking by the power of the Spirit,] but it will all be mysterious. But one who prophesies strengthens others, encourages them, and comforts them. A person who speaks in tongues is strengthened personally, but one who speaks a word of prophecy strengthens the entire church.I wish you could all speak in tongues, but even more I wish you could all prophesy. For prophecy is greater than speaking in tongues, unless someone interprets what you are saying so that the whole church will be strengthened.1 Cor 14

Today remember:  grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Amen.
