Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. Psalm 51 & 19

Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.
Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.
Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.
Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.
Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.
Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.
Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.
Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.
Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.
O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise.
For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering.
The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.
Do good in thy good pleasure unto Zion: build thou the walls of Jerusalem.
Then shalt thou be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, with burnt offering and whole burnt offering: then shall they offer bullocks upon thine altar.
Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression.
Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart,
be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer.
Psalm 19 & 51

A few years ago, I was in a bible study and decided to pray the scriptures we were studying. I loved the prayers of David in Psalms and often I would pray them aloud or write the prayers in my journal. One prayer specifically I would pray often is “Lord, create in me a clean heart, and renew a right spirit within me”

Soon after I began praying this, something supernatural happened to me. I woke up one morning feeling like a brand new person.  How can I explain it? I felt like I did when I was seven years old- completely free, without a burden in the world. I had new-found energy and joy. Do you remember the energy you had when you were 7? -to climb trees, run free, no worries, and all joy. I didn’t realize how much the world and pressures around me had weighed me down. I felt so different, but I didn’t understand what had just happened.

As I woke up with this new feeling, I prayed, “Lord, what is this? I feel like I did when I was 7 years old?”  Within my heart I heard “You have a new spirit”. – not going to lie, that scared me! So I prayed back. “What?!?!?” and I heard “You prayed for this”. I didn’t remember praying for that, I didn’t really think I would get a new heart, I just thought they were great words and prayers from King David. I jumped out of bed and ran to my notebook and began flipping through the prayers I had written:

Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me
Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me
Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me
Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me
Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me
Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me
Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me

Over and over again, I had prayed this verse. I had a new spirit within me! It was amazing! So many things have happened supernaturally, but I just can’t fully explain them- another one being the mighty rush of wind- that was terrifying and at that moment something happened too. God’s Word is powerful and alive, keep it close to your heart.

Last year, I had a dream after I prayed the Prayer of Transformation . In the dream, my heart and life were being cleaned out – as if I was being made new again. I believe this is what will happen to us at the Lord’s coming:

Early morning, I was waking up out of a very different dream. It seemed there had been an innumerable amount of time and hours spent searching through my entire life- an exhaustive study- you could say of me. Things were being taken out of my life- every bad thing I had ever done and said, along with every wrong or bad thing that had happened to me. All of this was being taken out of me and put in a canister that was being held by an angel. There was much- intense study- searching back to my early childhood. I stood there as my life was being cleaned out – as if they where going in my heart/spirit and cleaning everything out. As I was waking up, yet still in dream, the exhaustive study of me was almost over. I say exhaustive because not only did it seem to take a long time to do this, but also because they didn’t stop until every wrong, every hurt, every evil was gone. It was amazing to think that even as a small child, there were hurts that I didn’t even know were there. They were taking out all the times I had been hurt or hard times I had suffered- even back to my toddler and childhood days. It was amazing. I looked at the canister and it was almost full and I turned to see myself. I could see myself standing up with my arms out as my life was searched and cleaned out. I looked- and in amazement I had turned into this brilliant shining white light. My arms, my clothes where like a bright white shining light. I could see myself on a brilliant white step and there I was- a brilliant shining white light. I was changed and transformed. I wonder if this is what will happen when the Lord changes us when He returns again! It was amazing.

I really can’t explain all these great mysteries, I can only share what I have experienced and remind you that God’s word is ALIVE AND POWERFUL. It is your sword and your weapon- don’t let it get rusty hidden away in a corner, but open up the Word of God and see what the Lord has for you.  Ask the Lord to create in you a clean heart and renew a right spirit within you, also remember always the importance of protecting your heart:

Guard your heart above all else,
for it determines the course of your life.
 Avoid all perverse talk;
    stay away from corrupt speech.
 Look straight ahead,
and fix your eyes on what lies before you.
Mark out a straight path for your feet;
    stay on the safe path.
 Don’t get sidetracked;
keep your feet from following evil.
Proverbs 4:23-27

How is your heart?

Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. How can I know all the sins lurking in my heart? Cleanse me from these hidden faults Psalm 51:10 Psalm 19:12

And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh: Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will ye die, O house of Israel? A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh Ezekiel 11:19  Ezekiel 18:31 Ezekiel 36:26

No man putteth a piece of new cloth unto an old garment, for that which is put in to fill it up taketh from the garment, and the rent is made worse.  Neither do men put new wine into old bottles: else the bottles break, and the wine runneth out, and the bottles perish: but they put new wine into new bottles, and both are preserved. Matthew 9:16 Matthew 9:17 Luke 5:38

Another time I prayed scripture to the Lord ,as I searched for answers, was when my first daughter died. I reminded Him every day of the parable of the annoying woman who came to the evil king, and even he granted her what she wanted, I told Him, surely you can do greater – and He answered me. I called out all the scripture I knew to Him and He answered me! I wrote that in Where to babies go when they die?

You are saved by grace ?

I had a dream about a year ago and in this dream, I stood before a great king. He seemed larger than life and he sat on a great throne. It seemed I was only 1/3 of his height. We were going back in forth in debate- well only I was debating- on the subject of salvation, but the king only had one answer and would defeat my argument each time.

 My Dream:

I walked into a room and there was a great king on a large throne and between us seemed to be desk. I stood and argued that it was not possible to be saved by grace alone. I argued with all the scripture I knew and the king would reply each time “No, it is only by grace that you are saved”

What! That can’t be, I would argue back. The bible is clear that we are not saved unless we believe and even that isn’t enough, because scripture says that even the devils believe, and with this that we need works, because the bible says with out works, our faith is dead. So we need to believe, but we need to add to that faith, but yet, still that is not good enough, we need works – because scripture says that.

The king would gently reply: “It is only by grace that you are saved”

Really? I argued back, so how does that make sense? What about John 3:16?So I guess everybody’s saved, if it’s only grace? But what about those who don’t believe in Christ? Are they saved only by grace because what good is believing, faith and works then? Do they all disappear? What about Hebrews 11:6- We can’t please God without faith and Romans 1:5 and 16:26 we need to believe and OBEY, and 1 Corinthians 13:1-3 I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn’t love others, I would be nothing and he cuts off every branch that doesn’t produce fruit- so that proves we need works; and works without love is worthless, so now we need works, love, faith, and fruit to be saved!!!!!!

“ No, it is only by grace that you are saved” He kept saying to me. I was totally annoyed because I didn’t feel like I was winning this argument. The king would look at me with the most loving eyes and let me finish each thing I said before he spoke. He seemed to look at me as a loving father would, even in my frustration – he would calmly tilt his head back touching the back of his throne with his head and smile as if I were quite entertaining. He never got angry and always looked at me with loving eyes, even though I was mouthing off and flying my hands all over the place with my argument.

Each time I would finish my argument, he would pause…. Smile at me and say – in a ‘he was so right way’ – “it is only by grace that you are saved”.

And I kept on: Well why do I need to keep running the race? Aren’t I supposed to win the prize? I keep running as it says in 1 Corinthians 9, and what about faith- what good are we without faith in the Lord Jesus Christ – His death and resurrection? 1 tim 1:9 and all the old testament great men were honored because of their faith – like Abraham- because of their faith- in Hebrews 11” And Romans 3 says we are made right with God because of our faith, not obedience.Doesn’t faith justify us in Gal 2:16 and Romans 5:1? So it’s not grace – impossibleSalvation is belief in Jesus, plus works, plus faith, plus love, plus fruit – because without that….aren’t we chopped off that vine?

The King loving and calmly replied (as he smiled at me)  “Lisa, it is only by grace that you are saved”

No, I said, you are wrong- impossible. I know all the scripture and I know I’m right. I saw him look at me, enjoying this conversation. He knew he was right and he knew my argument wasn’t standing up to his. So I continued on…..okay, well what about this verse: “When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures,  idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division,  envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God” where does grace fit in there? Doesn’t that verse prove we are saved or not saved by our actions? And see! Look at Romans 4” But people are counted as righteous, not because of their work, but because of their faith in God who forgives sinners.” So here we go with rock, paper, scissors! It’s faith, and not works? But still – it’s faith in God, right? So now it’s just faith, but wait Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble” (James 2:19).- so faith and belief are different? Anyways- how can God’s grace alone save us? I know God’s grace is important, but I know we are saved because we believe, and even that is not enough! Because even the devils believe, and we must add to that faith because without faith we cannot please God and to that we must add works because faith is shown in works, and to that we must add love because works without love is nothing and to that we add fruit, because without that we are cut off from the vine, and there you have it, I win.

He leaned over to me, and I really think he had a sparkle in his eye, patiently smiling, making sure I was done and said

It is only by grace, that you are saved.

The argument went on and on through the night. I kept quoting scripture, but the king kept winning the argument with his reply “You are saved by grace” ,Uggghhhhhh! I woke up and I still felt like I had not won this argument.

What exactly is Grace?

This dream prompted me to intensely study Grace and what I have found is truly amazing. I’m not done, I have over 30 pages written on the subject, and hopefully I can put it together soon in a post worthy manner.  The study seems to be taking forever. I think I have found some great discoveries as I study Grace. As I put all the scriptures together to define grace, I have found an interesting possible link between grace and the Holy Spirit. The definition of grace almost exactly matches the Holy Spirit, but that will have to be another post, for now, I just hope to have you thinking. 🙂

As the Holy Spirit has sealed us for the day of redemption, could also God’s grace do the same? Is Gods grace the underlying denominator to faith, works, belief, love, and fruit?

I studied Acts a few months ago in order to gather all he said to the people about Salvation in Christ Jesus and I came up with these 7 things:

ETERNAL SALVATION- AN UNDERSERVED GIFT FROM GOD

1-BELIEVE IN THE LORD JESUS CHRIST- FAITH
2-CONFESS YOUR SINS AND REPENT
3-TURN BACK TO GOD- He wants you to SEEK HIM
4-BE BAPTISED IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST-WASHING AWAY YOUR SINS
5-PROVE IT BY THE WAY YOU LIVE
6-GET RID OF ALL SIN AND WICKEDNESS
7-WATCH OUT FOR FALSE TEACHERS AND WOLVES IN SHEEP’S CLOTHING

As I considered all this I suddenly thought:

It is by grace that  1- I believe in the Lord Jesus Christ
It is by grace that  2- He forgives me when I confess my sins and repent
It is by grace that  3- He calls me to seek Him
It is by grace that 4- He washes away my sins through baptism
It is by grace that  5-He continues to work in me, leading, guiding and teaching me to be Holy like He is holy
It is by grace that   6- He gives me His Word to teach me how to live
It is by grace that  7- He gives me discernment and knowledge to know right from wrong.

And this verse was brought to my remembrance : “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.  For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts” Isaiah 55:8-9

I’m still not done studying, but I keep on…I keep on….

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves

Ephesians 2:8

Last night I dreamt of a Shepherd, he was tall and in a field with a staff and his herd of sheep. He was going on the outside of his herd and gathering all of the sheep that had wandered off, one at a time, then suddenly I saw a fisherman gathering in fish from a net…

  28. Don’t wear yourself out trying to get rich. Be wise enough to know when to quit. (Labour not to be rich: cease from thine own wisdom)

  45. Don’t say, “Now I can pay them back for what they’ve done to me! I’ll get even with them!”
  46. Don’t be lazy! A little extra sleep, a little more slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest— then poverty will pounce on you like a bandit; scarcity will attack you like an armed robber. (I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding; And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, and nettles had covered the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken down. Then I saw, and considered it well: I looked upon it, and received instruction. Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth; and thy want as an armed man.
  47. Don’t demand an audience with the king or push for a place among the great.( For better it is that it be said unto thee, Come up hither; than that thou shouldest be put lower in the presence of the prince whom thine eyes have seen)  (2x)

  56. Don’t make rash promises, and don’t be hasty in bringing matters before God. (for God is in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few)
  57. Don’t let your mouth make you sin. And don’t defend yourself by telling the Temple messenger that the promise you made was a mistake. That would make God angry, and he might wipe out everything you have achieved (Suffer not thy mouth to cause thy flesh to sin; neither say thou before the angel, that it was an error)
  58. Don’t long for “the good old days.” This is not wise.
  59. Don’t eavesdrop on others—you may hear your servant curse you. For you know well that: (oftentimes also thine own heart knoweth that thou thyself likewise hast cursed others) .
  60. Don’t quit! If your boss is angry at you, don’t quit! A quiet spirit can overcome even great mistakes.  ( I just texted this verse to someone who didn’t want to hear it, lol, and she just replied “What! Ugh!”)

  64. Don’t make me cut your chicken! Lazy people take food in their hand but don’t even lift it to their mouth.(This verse speaks this also to me: For crying out loud Lisa! How much lettuce and fruit will rot in your kitchen before you get up and cut it. Get a knife and cut it open, very simple, very simple…and yes you have to cook the chicken today, and stop waiting for someone else to cut your fruit)
  65. Don’t break your promises to God. Don’t delay in following through with a promise you made to God, for God takes no pleasure in fools. Keep all the promises you make to him (Better is it that thou shouldest not vow, than that thou shouldest vow and not pay).
  66. Don’t be surprised if you see a poor person being oppressed by the powerful and if justice is being miscarried throughout the land. For every official is under orders from higher up, and matters of justice get lost in red tape and bureaucracy. (for he that is higher than the highest regardeth; and there be higher than they)  God is still in charge and see’s everything
  67. Don’t desire what you don’t have, but enjoy what you have rather.Just dreaming about nice things is meaningless—like chasing the wind.
  68. Don’t be too good or too wise! Why destroy yourself? (Be not righteous over much; neither make thyself over wise: why shouldest thou destroy thyself ? Be not over much wicked, neither be thou foolish: why shouldest thou die before thy time? What is he saying here? Don’t kill yourself trying so hard to be perfect ? Ms. Superclean, can you put away the Lysol for a moment, I can’t breath, Mr.ocd….. if the frame is out of place, take a deep breath and keep walking…..just thoughts, just thoughts….)
  69. Don’t be too wicked either. Don’t be a fool! Why die before your time?
  70. Don’t try to avoid doing your duty, and don’t stand with those who plot evil, for the king can do whatever he wants
  71. Don’t be lazy in the kitchen. Lazy people don’t even cook the game they catch, but the diligent make use of everything they find.  (2-3x in bible)oookay then….
  72. Don’t let your hearts be taken by an immoral woman. Don’t wander down her wayward path. (And, behold, there met him a woman with the attire of an harlot, and subtil of heart. (She is loud and stubborn; her feet abide not in her house: Now is she without, now in the streets, and lieth in wait at every corner.)  So she caught him, and kissed him, and with an impudent face said unto him, I have peace offerings with me; this day have I payed my vows…..For she hath cast down many wounded: yea, many strong men have been slain by her. Her house is the way to hell, going down to the chambers of death )
  73. Don’t go near her house, stay away from her! Don’t lust for her beauty. Don’t let her coy glances seduce you. (For the lips of a strange (immoral) woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil:  But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword. Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell. Lest thou shouldest ponder the path of life, her ways are moveable, that thou canst not know them.) 74. Don’t be greedy, for it will lead you to poverty. Greedy people try to get rich quick but don’t realize they’re headed for poverty.
  75. Don’t wait until your last breath to remember your Creator. Yes, remember your Creator now while you are young, before the silver cord of life snaps and the golden bowl is broken. Don’t wait until the water jar is smashed at the spring and the pulley is broken at the well (Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it)
  76. Don’t ignore the poor. The godly care about the rights of the poor; the wicked don’t care at all.
  77. Don’t act quickly, without thinking. Wise people think before they act; fools don’t—and even brag about their foolishness.

Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

With Love,
King Solomon

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. James 1:5
