What goes around comes around – is it biblical?

I never thought this was a biblical truth until recently. I thought it was a Buddhist or Hindu belief called Karma, and it had nothing to do with God’s word, but perhaps, the origins come from the true written Word.

Over the last year as I’ve read through the bible, I’ve marked off scripture with the letters WGACA (What goes around comes around) where I believe, this truth is found, and I found many! We reap what we sow, justice always prevails, evil works will eventually catch up with the wicked. Even our words – consider the curse that flew out of Jacobs mouth when Laban accused his family of stealing a family idol. Rachel was hiding it and soon after she died in childbirth. That’s just words, but there are laws and sets of orders in our universe that God has put in place.

Whatever you do, good or bad, may or will most likely circle around and either smack you back with what you put out there or bless you for what you did in this universe that our Great God has created and ordered.

But hey, God knows our heart and their are circumstances where we are not always paid back, well not in a way we’d think. Consider Peter when he denied Jesus 3x. Peter is the rock of the church. He felt awful after he did this, yet Jesus came back to him and 3x Jesus asked Peter if he loved Him and each time Peter said yes. Peter was remorseful, Jesus chose to show him grace and another law of the universe of God at work – love covers a multitude of sins. (1 Peter 4:8). I would guess the anguish, sorrow and remorse he inwardly felt was enough punishment. However, even with that example above and that’s only His grace and law of love, the reality of the laws of the universe is that stuff will most likely come back around at most people, and certainly the wicked.

THIS IS THE KEY —1 John 1:9 – If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us [our] sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Check out the truths below

Consider Galatians 6:7 Don’t be misled—you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant. Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit.

Psalm 18:24-27 The Lord rewards those who do what is right, He is faithful to the faithful, He is pure to the pure, He is shrewd to the crooked, He humiliates the proud and rescues the humble.

Proverbs 11:16-27 : there is reward for the kind and destruction for the cruel, rewards of the godly last but the wealth of the evil last only a moment, Godly find life, evil find death, the wicked are punished, the stingy will loose all they have but the generous will become more wealthy. Help and refresh others and you yourself will be refreshed. Those who hoard curse what they have and those who help others will in turn be helped when in need. The godly are rewarded, the wicked are judged.
IF YOU SEARCH FOR GOOD, YOU WILL FIND FAVOR, IF YOU SEARCH FOR EVIL, IT WILL FIND YOU!

Isaiah 33: When you are done destroying, you will be destroyed, when you are done betraying, you will be betrayed

1 Kings 21 and 2Kings 9: Field of Naboth- Wicked Jezebel hires people to lie and murder innocent man and neighbor Naboth because her husband, King Ahab wanted his land. Naboth didn’t want to give it to him so wicked Jezebel had him killed for his land. God saw this injustice done to Naboth “The Lord pronounced this message against him:  ‘I solemnly swear that I will repay him here on this plot of land, says the Lord, for the murder of Naboth and his sons that I saw yesterday.’ So throw him out on Naboth’s property, just as the Lord said.” also “Give him this message: ‘This is what the Lord says: Wasn’t it enough that you killed Naboth? Must you rob him, too? Because you have done this, dogs will lick your blood at the very place where they licked the blood of Naboth!’” Ahab who originally wanted the land ends up dying in battle – by accident, he told the king of judah to dress like a king, but not him (so the other king would die not him) but ahab ended up dying on the field from a stray arrow and jezebel, his wife, was thrown out of her window and the she was so mutilated by the fall and the dogs that she was unrecognizable.

Colossians 3:25 For the wrongdoer will be paid back for the wrong he has done, and there is no partiality.

Proverbs 1:15-19 Stay away from evil people and their paths, they hurry to do every kind of evil. Just as a bird sees a trap being set, and knows to stay away, you also should know to stay away. You see, the wicked set a trap for themselves, their own wickedness kills themselves and this is the FATE of ALL who are greedy for money, it robs them of life.

Psalm 62:12 Surely you repay all people,  according to what they have done.

Proverbs 3:33-35 The Lord blesses the home of the upright, curses the house of the wicked, The Lord mocks the mockers, and is gracious to the humble. The wise inherit honor but fools are put to shame

Read the Beatitudes : Mathew 5

Matthew 10:32-33 Deny Jesus here on earth and He will deny you before the Father – what is this ridiculousness we imagine that we can mock God, deny Jesus with excuses -oh I don’t want to offend anyone and think you can get away with it? You can’t! God is love but He is also a God of justice and wrath. Wake up . Never deny Christ , publicly acknowledge Him and who He is.

Proverbs 19:9 A liar will always be punished, even destroyed. yikes.

Proverbs 26:27 – Whoso diggeth a pit shall fall therein: and he that rolleth a stone, it will return upon him.

Matthew 26:52 those who use the sword will die by the sword.

Acts 7:41-42 . The Israelites, in the wilderness. decided to worship the calf they made because they didn’t want to wait any longer for Moses . God saw this and turned away from them, abandoned them and let them serve their gods.  You can’t serve God and your idols- and your statues and you praying to dead people, you prayers may be answered, but they are demons. Demons are behind all the idols, you choose who you serve. Jesus taught us how to pray – Our God who art in heaven, and He also taught us to pray in His name. Don’t add to it. Don’t make it complicated. Don’t do what you think is right in your own eyes- truth is truth.

2 Chronicles 24 – King Joash of Judah started out as a great and godly king (at 7 years old) because the priest Jehoida helped lead him in all godly ways. However when Jehoida the priest died (at age 130) , King Joash of Judah had new advisers who led him astray along wicked paths. Jehoida’s son , Zechariah, a prophet, came to warn the king and King Joash killed him! How could he kill the son of the priest who had helped him and taught him most of his life? He no longer wanted God’s advice and killed the prophet. King Joash was soon injured in battle and those around him conspired to kill him for murdering the priest’s son and he was not buried in the royal cemetery. WCAGA

Col 3:25 the wrongdoer will be paid back for the wrong he has done, and there is no partiality.

Consider also when David had Uriah killed so no one would know that he, David, had slept and impregnated Uriah’s wife. King David put Uriah on the front lines of battle so he would be killed. Soon after this pregnancy brought forth a child who died at only a few days old, David was grief stricken over the child’s death and sorry for his terrible sin. God continued to love and bless David, but sins had to be taken care of – look at this verse I read today in Proverbs 20:30 : BLOWS THAT HURT CLEANSE AWAY EVIL, As DO STRIPES THE INNER DEPTHS OF THE HEART. Our pains, trials, troubles cleanse us from evil even into our hearts. Think about it, that verse goes deep.

2 Chronicles 15:2– if you forsake Him, He will forsake you . If you abandon Him, He will abandon you. …..This isn’t the message preachers teach, they want you to think you have the golden ticket to eternity if you only say a prayer – but your heart needs to be right (see Simon the Sorcerer) and if you aren’t living right, well, scripture says you have no place in the kingdom of God. but I know most people want to make up their own rules…so we march on. Who is listening?

2 Chronicles 16:9  For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him.

Read Dt 28

Lev 26 : hate His laws and commands and terror will be appointed to you, sorrow, and if you still do not listen, you will be punished 7x more for your sins. Your PRIDE will be broken, your strength will be spent in vain, nothing in your land will increase. and if you continue to walk contrary to the Lord and refuse to listen to Him, He will again bring 7x more plagues ACCORDING TO YOUR SINS.

Galations 6:8-9 Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit. So let’s not get tired of doing what is good.

Romans 12:19- you don’t need to bother with vengeance, for the Lord is the God who repays. You only need to forgive AND REMEMBER IF YOU DON’T FORGIVE OTHER, YOU WILL NOT BE FORGIVEN. If you judge others, you will, by the same standards be judged.

THIS IS THE KEY —1 John 1:9 – If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us [our] sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

AND MAKE IT RIGHT

Think about the scripture and God’s laws- universal laws He has ordained in this life we live. This also reminds me of the Israelites in the wilderness. They complained non stop and never remembered the amazing wonders and works of God. Their faith was always faltering, God gave them everything they needed and more, yet they complained, worried, cried, feared and God said enough! Faithless people! Your never remember! Everything you feared will now come upon you and not one of you (except Joshua and Caleb because of their faith) will enter in the promise land. (Moses was allowed to see the land but not enter it) So all those complainers, worriers and those who never stopped to remember to build their faith died in the wilderness. And later many times, Israel relied on Egypt and other countries and God said, enough , fine, rely on them and not Me. They will be your downfall. Which reminds me of a chapter I read this past weekend- it was about King Asa in 25 Chronicles 16 – and I’ll leave you with these verses to think about WCAGA

To King Asa:

For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him. In this you have done foolishly, therefor from now on you shall have wars. (this was because Asa wasn’t seeking help from God, instead ran to Syria for help)

King Asa kills God’s messenger and in turn Asa becomes diseased in His feet and it was severe ” yet in his disease he did not seek the Lord, but the physicians” of Asa, they say: he trusted armies and obtained war, he trusted physicians and obtained death”
