Florida state rep. says high school world history textbook is a big Islam lovefest

A Florida school board is reviewing a state-approved world history textbook used in an Advanced Placement class over claims that the book covers Islam in loving, rah-rah detail while giving short shrift to Christianity and Judaism. The textbook – called simply World History – is published under Pearson’s Prentice Hall imprint and is currently in use in an A.P. class in Brevard County schools—and in school districts across the country.It contains a 36-page chapter fondly devoted to “Muslim Civilizations,” reports FOX News. Sections include discussions of the rise of Islam and the growth of the Muslim empire. Take a wild guess about the nu.mber of chapters the book dedicates to Christianity or Judaism. That’s right: zero.
“It’s remarkably one-sided,” said Ritch Workman, a Republican member of the Florida House of Representatives who raised the ruckus that started the review process.Though Brevard County has used the book for the last three years with no complaints, Workman is complaining now. His argument, in a nutshell, is that the book’s authors prop up Islam yet denigrate the other two major Abrahamic faiths.
For instance, the state lawmaker says, the textbook informs high schoolers that “people happily accepted Islam as their way of life” in Medina. “It leaves out that tens of thousands of Jews and non-believers were massacred by Mohammed’s armies,” Workman said.
“Kids are going to take this book as gospel and believe that Christians and Jews were murderous barbarians and thank God the Muslims came along and the world is great.”
The textbook describes the Koran and the Five Pillars of Islam. It also suggests that Jesus Christ called himself the Messiah yet declares matter-of-factly that Mohammed was a prophet—a semantic distinction that Workman says galls him to no end. The Republican representative also alleges that a Muslim cleric wrote the chapter entitled “Muslim Civilizations.”“The publisher told me,” he told FOX News.
Two school board members, Amy Kneessy and Andy Ziegler, pledged to review the textbook, reports First Coast News. “No matter what the subject is, whether it’s math, English, science or world history, students need to have accurate, unbiased information,” Kneessy told FirstCoast. “If textbooks are unbiased or incomplete, it’s our job to fix that.”
Susan Aspey, a spokeswoman for Pearson, the publisher, defended the textbook in email. “A review of the book shows there is balanced attention given to the beliefs of Islam, Judaism and Christianity,” she wrote. FirstCoast also interviewed a history teacher from Eau Gallie High in Workman’s district. She had her own take on the textbook . “There was more discussion of the Muslim aspects, but I attributed it to it being more focused on the world and other cultures than our own,” said the second-year teacher , Robin Miller.
Wilfredo Ruiz, an attorney for Florida Council on American-Islamic Relations, took a much more conspiratorial view.
They just want to create an environment of intolerance toward Muslims and an environment of hate against Islam,” Ruiz told FirstCoast.

My comment: Parents! Teach your children that Allah, god of Islam, is NOT THE GOD OF THE JEWS! NOR IS HE THE GOD OF THE CHRISTIANS! The state of Florida is brainwashing your children and setting the scene for the next holocaust. Florida’s History book dedicates an entire chapter to Islam, claims Mohammed is God’s messenger, that they are a religion of peace, paints a peaceful people – without telling the facts- they hate the Jews! It was so convincing and beautifully worded, it would fool any student into believing their beautifully worded chapter. Muslims are awaiting their Mahdi to arrive to kill off every last Jew – and christian- EXPLAIN HOW THAT IS THE GOD OF ABRAHAM! They plan to fly their flag over our country and rule by Sharia law- this is more than a religion- they rule with a demonic fist, all the time looking so pious and holy. The book is teaching millions of students that the islamic Allah is the God of Christians and Jews. This is from the Quran: Allah deceives and the book teaches that Allah intentionally deceived the Christians, Allah approves of lying to spread Islam-My God does not lie, My God does not deceive, My God wants all to come to Him, but Allah wishes to see the wicked burn in hell, My God wants them to turn from wickedness and run back to Him, My God wants no man to perish so He sent His only beloved Son, that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.Florida Students MUST KNOW THE 5 PILLARS OF ISLAM! Are you kidding me! Could you image the uproar if we had the students study the 10 commandments. Does the history book mention Christians? Yes- only their slaughter during the crusades, Christians are painted as a cruel religion. Islam is taught throughout the book, they are mentioned 20-30x outside the chapter devoted to them. Jesus got one paragraph on pg 19 and on pg 247 where Christians are painted as those who kill Jews. This is ridiculous brainwashing! and I quote : “Muslims, Jews, and Christians worship the same God. The Quran teaches that Islam is God’s final and complete revelation, while Hebrew and the Christian bible portray earlier revelations. Muslims consider Jews and Christians to be “people of the book” …”but don’t have the same rights as muslims” and: ” Islam extended rights and protection to woman by affirming the spirituality of all muslims” really? let’s check the news:

Thank you for the comment, I’ve been meaning to catch up with comments but the beginning of the school year has been chaotic for me. My children are told they can’t even say “God” in class! Yet His name is on every dollar bill we use and in our pledge- so crazy. Trying to create a Christian after school group in our High School has been next to impossible. They have atheist groups, muslim groups, and sexual orientated clubs and their own “special rooms” to go to study – but the Christian groups are ignored and looked down on. What a shame, we all need to stand up for our rights. Thank you for your comment,

Wait, hold the phone! I agree with out that this books should IN NO WAY be in public schools… But the God of Islam IS the same God worshiped by Jews and Christians. You seem to be mixing politics and theology a bit too much.
The Qur’an mentions Jesus more than it mentions Muhammad (link below)? The Qur’an even mentions the resurrection of Jesus and the belief that Jesus was a “messenger from God.” Again, I agree with you about the textbook but I don’t agree with fueling the hatred. Islamists want the Jews and Christians out of Jerusalem for the same reasons Christians and Jews want Islam out—it’s the Holy City for all three religions.

See, the Quran is very deceiving. It will talk how they honor Moses and Abraham, but then there are twists and turns. Yes, they speak and say they believe Jesus was a prophet, in fact they believe he is coming back in the last days- Isa, the son of Mary, aka Jesus. But when you do the research and read the Biblical scriptures compared to the Quran you will see the differences. I don’t in any way hate people of other religions. Muslims live all around me and they are nice people, but their religion is farce and they do not believe Jesus is the Son of God. They believe that Allah deceived Christians into believing that. If the God of Islam tells the people to destroy the Jews, how can he be the God of the Jews?
If the god of islam tells the people that Christians have covered eyes and were intentionally deceived by Jesus, how can he be the God of the Christians?
If the god of Islam allows lying, deceit, cheat, and falsify fact in order to promote and grow the faith of Islam- How in any way can he be the God of Jews and Christians – because God does not lie, nor does He deceive. I’m writing the Quran scriptures to back up everything I said, so maybe Ill post it soon. Check out the word taquiyya for starters.
It’s not the same God, in fact, their book and religion is so deceiving with rights and wrongs, you can’t help but wonder, who exactly are they worshipping.
Look- I want American to be the free country it always has been, but they do not. If they were just a mere religion like hindus or another, no big deal – but the islamist faith has bigger plans to rule in Sharia Law over all the world.
Remember – even the elect could be deceived. Just be careful.
Dont believe everything you read. The Quran has matching similarities with scripture but then it does the backstroke.

Thank you for this comment, Lisa. I was just talking to a friend of mine who is taking a history class at a public college. She assumed that the God of the Qur’an was the same as the God of the Jews and Christians. She believed me when I told her that it wasn’t but I wasn’t as eloquent as you. I really like your explanation. I will have to use it in the future.
I will claim ignorance to some of these things. I’m not trying to attack you. In fact, I’m Christian AND I live in Florida so this subject is close to me. I think this book totally stinks and I think we need to get it tossed out of our schools ASAP.
The only thing I know about Islam is that they sprung from the Judeo-Christian tradition. Most verses in the Qur’an that talk about peace refer to peace ‘between believers;” this may be the crux of the problem. Christians are taught to love everyone as Christ loved us whereas some Muslims may be taught to only love “believers” [however that might be interpreted]. Either way, as Christians, we are still commanded by Christ to love…for better or worse. –Amen.’
I think what really bothers me the most about all this, is not really what is in the book – but rather that all the children are led away like trained zombies to believe everything the public school teached them. (Sheep to the slaughter)The parents don’t bother to look into it and hardly any – in fact I know none, that go to church. The parents of today were mostly raised in the Church but no one bothers to teach their children. Events, work, sports have taken the place of bilbical learning and worship. We have a new generation that says they are “christians” as if happens to be genetic, but they know nothing about Jesus. I’ll quote a few “yea, Im a christian- something about Jesus” and “Who was born on Christmas morning? uhhhhh I don’t know” I’m not kidding you.
You see, if the parents were teaching the kids, as we were told to do, these small words in this book would have no meaning. Now we have a new generation with no knowledge reading this chapter, and seriously, it sounds so good to be a muslim – who wouldn’t want to be one?
You can bet the Muslim mothers are drilling and teaching their kids- but we have gotten lazy and maybe even too worldly.
Our youth, our youth – we need to protect them, they are our future.
if Islam and Christianity taught the same thing we would either all be Christians or Muslims. there wouldn’t be two groups and there certainly wouldn’t be two books. the reason why there are two books is because Christianity and Islam do not agree.

I tried to tell my best friend this. That the god of the muslims is not the same as Jesus. I will pray for her. It galls me that Oprah Winfrey says all roads led to God. This is not true. People need to wake up.
Muslims believe they worship the God of Moses. That’s their belief whether YOU believe it or not—it’s really up to God to judge; and he will. The argument of if we have the same God or not is really an argument of belief. It’s the same as when Jewish people say Jesus is a false Messiah—same God, different beliefs.
Jewish people say Jesus was a prophet
And so do Muslims
Yet neither believe the words He spoke.

I have nothing against peaceful practicing Muslims or Islam. We are a Christian home believing in Jesus Christ and my 10th grader in Hillsborough County Public School came home and informed me her World History teacher is teaching them that Christians , Muslims and Jews all worship the same “god”Her teacher also informed her that’s her personal belief also.My daughter told me she knows that’s not the truth, we don’t all worship the same god and believe the same..If this is true, they are teaching this then I am going to look into it. If your going to teach this then teach truth of what all believe not just what is assumed they all believe. So now begins the gospel of “Public Schools”
